Ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India to Play Practice Match in Perth
Team India's only warm-up game in Australia ahead of the five-Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be an internal contest, played against the touring India 'A' side.
Before the Border-Gavaskar five test series, there will be one test match played by the Indian team against of A side. Team A has already been in Australia a few weeks ago for the two-match series and gonna be staying there for the three-day tune-up starting from November 15 to 17 at WACA, Perth. And from November 22 the first match will be played at the New Perth Stadium.
Before the main warm-up match, the Indian 'A' team, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, will play two practice matches against the Australian 'A' team. These matches will take place in different cities in Australia. The first match will be in Queensland from October 31st to November 3rd, and the second will be in Melbourne from November 7th to 10th.
India A squad is yet to be announced by the selectors but within a week it is expected to be announced. Australia A team squad is gonna be announced on Monday (October 14) by George Bailey the chief selector and for that, the media conference was at 2 pm AEST in which there might be an update regarding Cameron Green who might not be able to play due to his back injury.
A Cricket Australia official said there won't be a warm-up match for the Indian team before the series. He explained that teams don't often play warm-up matches these days. He also mentioned that the Australian team didn't have any warm-up matches when they last visited India.
He said that this would be an internal match and that it's up the India how they wish to use the game. There are chances that some test players might play in the India A games but it will be fully on BCCI. Nowadays not all country plays warm-up matches you can see Australia hasn’t had one since the last series in India.
Peter Roach, from Cricket Australia, said in May that the upcoming cricket season will be exciting because of the five-match series between Australia and India. This is the first time in over 30 years that they'll play five matches against each other. There will also be matches between the 'A' teams of Australia and India. These matches will be played in Queensland and Melbourne. The main series will start in Perth and then continue in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
