As KKR face RR, Yuzvendra Chahal records the most expensive spell in IPL history
Yuzvendra Chahal spells most runs in his indian Premier League season ever while playing against KKR.
Tuesday evening match between the Rajasthan Royals vs Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2024, has created another record for spelling most runs in the innings. The Rajasthan Royals Leg spinner- Yuzvendra Chahal marked the most costly spell in the IPL history.
In the evening match, Yuzvendra Chahal recorded his most expensive comeback in the Indian Premier League season. He surpassed his previous record against Mumbai Indians which was 1/51 in 2015. This signifies that he delivered more runs in the last evening match than any other matches he had played. On the other hand, the subordinate, Ravichandran Ashwin, an off-spinner is the second most expensive return, which is 0/49. However, the highest number of runs delivered in a single match was 0/53 against SRH in 2018.
The Chahal conceded a total of 54 runs in the four delivered overs, while able to take only just 1 wicket. The other expensive spells from the Rajasthan Royals team in the past were Shane Warne vs Punjab Kings for 1/50, Yuzvendra Chahal vs Punjab Kings for 1/50 and the Ashwin spells while playing against KKR spells for 0/49.
He had taken 198 wickets in the history of the Indian Premier League before the start of the match and just needed just two wickets to reach the milestone of 200 wickets ever any bowler yet to mark the record.
Yuzvendra Chahal is still holding the record, as a leading wicket-taker and managed to snap 199 wickets in the 152 matches played since 2013 in the Indian premier league seasons. Thus, gives an average of 21.47 and an economy rate of 7.71. His best bowling figures of him is 5/40 runs.
Coming to the match while vs KKR, Rajasthan Royals was chosen to bowl first in the match. They lost their opener Phil Slat for 10 runs only. But Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi built an 85-run partnership. Narine played a smashing innings and scored 109 runs in 56 balls accompanied by 13 fours and six sixes. The finishing inning from Rinku Singh (20 runs for not out in nine balls) helped the KKR to reach and set the target of 223/6 in 20 overs.
