Australia defeats Namibia to secure a spot in Super 8
It was an easy defeat by Australia against Namibia. Australia played very well against Namibia in their first T20I match.
Australia played very well against Namibia in their first T20I match ever. Adam Zampa did well, getting 4 Namibian players out for very few runs. Namibia only scored 72 runs. Unfortunately, Namibia lost and had to leave the tournament.
Namibia:
Initial Overs - 17/3 (RR: 2.83, 4s/6s: 2/0)
Mitchell Marsh won the coin toss and chose to bowl first. His team, missing Mitchell Starc for safety reasons, bowled quickly and put Namibia under pressure. Michael van Lingen hit one boundary in the first two overs, but those were the only boundaries Namibia managed early on. Josh Hazlewood got Australia going when Nikolaas Davin hit the ball straight to a fielder. Pat Cummins took a wicket in his first over when Jan Frylinck hit the ball to another fielder. Hazlewood got another wicket the same way, with van Lingen also hitting the ball straight to a fielder, leaving Namibia in trouble.
Middle Overs - 43/5 (RR: 4.77, 4s/6s: 4/1)
Namibia’s turn to bat in the cricket game was tough. They kept losing players, and scoring points was hard. Nathan Ellis got JJ Smit out by hitting the stumps with a fastball. Captain Gergard Erasmus took a while to get his first point. Australia didn't let up. Adam Zampa made a mistake in trying to challenge Erasmus but made up for it by getting Zane Green out. Zampa also got David Wiese and Ruben Trumpelmann out later. He even got his 100th wicket in T20I cricket. Namibia was struggling at 43/8.
Death Overs - 12/2 (RR: 6.00, 4s/6s: 0/1)
Erasmus started using the long handle when his team was almost finished batting, and he didn't have good partners left. He hit a big six off Cummins. But he got out when he tried to hit another big shot, and Maxwell caught the ball. Then, Tim David made a great play, and Stoinis got another wicket, ending Namibia's turn to bat a bit earlier than expected.
Australia:
Powerplay - 74/1 (RR: 13.05, 4s/6s: 11/4)
David Warner hit only eight balls in the game. He hit four of them well, showing that Australia wanted to win. Travis Head also hit the ball hard, getting two fours and a six in one over. After a tough over where they only got six runs, Australia needed to keep up the pace. Head hit three fours in a row, and then the captain, Marsh, hit a four, a six, and four to win the game with lots of balls left.
