Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, attained another big milestone. He is aiming to overshadow the records of Virat Kohli, former captain of India’s cricket team, in gaining runs in T20 matches. Babar scored 36/22 during the fourth T20 match against England at The Oval. Unluckily, Pakistan lost the match.
In doing so, he joined Kohli as the only contender to score more than 4,000 runs in T20 Internationals. He was about to outshine Kohli as the top–run scorer in the format until he was brushed – off by Jofra Archer on the final ball of the powerplay.
Both Virat Kohli and Babar Azam may soon be joined in a 4000–run club by India’s Captain Rohit Sharma during the T20 World Cup which will begin on Sunday. Rohit has 3974 runs; Babar has 4023 runs and Kohli has 4037 runs. Kohli has 1 century and 37 half–centuries, Babar has 3 centuries and 36 half–centuries and Rohit has 5 centuries and 29 half–centuries.
Babar’s attempts didn’t help Pakistan much as they lost their good start and were all out for 157 runs. England’s all-six bowlers took wickets, with the spinner Adil Rashid performing the best with two wickets for twenty-seven runs in the four overs. England battled aggressively and ended the chase in 15.3 overs.
Captain Jos Butler and Phil Salt scored 82 runs together in just 6.2 overs. While Will Jacks struggled a bit, making 20 runs in 18 balls. Johnny Bairstow stayed not out with 28 runs from 16 balls, and Harry Brook was with him, scoring 17 runs from 14 balls. The fast bowler Haris Rauf took all three wickets for Pakistan.
