Bangladesh achieves first-ever T20I series clean sweep against West Indies
Jaker smashed 72 not out off 41 balls and Rishad bagged three wickets as the hosts were bowled out for their lowest total against Bangladesh in 3rd T20Is
Kingstown, Bangladesh has completed a 3-0 series and swept the hosts West Indies and achieved a massive 8-run win in which Jaker Ali made 72 runs and showed excellent bowling skills. Jaker's quick 72-run knock from 41 balls built on the strong start from the top order, helping Bangladesh post their highest-ever T20I total in the West Indies—189/7. The bowlers then worked together to dismiss the hosts for just 109 in under 17 overs, securing Bangladesh's biggest win by runs.
Bangladesh was leading the series and decided to bat first and gave a strong start with a quick 44-run opening partnership, where Parvez Hossain Emon (39 off 21) did most of the scoring. They lost both openers in quick succession by the end of the PowerPlay but had a solid foundation at 54/2. Tanzid Hasan couldn't build on it, but Jaker stepped up to take charge from there.
After coming in at 65/3, Bangladesh No. 5 Jaker partnered with Mehidy Hasan Miraz to steady the innings with a 37-run stand. Roston Chase then broke the partnership, triggering a mini-collapse as Shamim Hossain and Mahedi Hasan were run out within three balls. In a mix-up, Jaker initially walked back to the pavilion after the first run-out but was promptly recalled after replays showed he was not out.
At 114/6 in the 15th over, Jaker shifted gears and teamed up with Tanzim Hasan Sakib for a crucial fifty-run partnership to boost the total. Jaker was on 17 runs from 16 balls when he was called back after the run-out confusion. From there, he went on a rampage, scoring 55 runs off just 25 balls. Alzarri Joseph faced the worst of it, giving away 12 runs in one over and 25 in another as Jaker smashed him for four sixes and two boundaries.
After defending totals of 147 and 129 in the previous games, Bangladesh's bowlers had a strong platform to secure their first-ever T20I series sweep against the West Indies. Taskin Ahmed struck early, trapping Brandon King LBW in just the second ball of the chase. Despite some quick runs from Nicholas Pooran, the hosts managed only 45 runs in the PowerPlay and lost three wickets, including Pooran, who fell to Mahedi Hasan for the third time in the series.
Romario Shepherd put up a brief fight, but the rest of the West Indies batters crumbled under the growing pressure of the chase. Bangladesh's bowlers stayed in control from start to finish, with each of them taking at least one wicket. Rishad Hossain was the star performer, grabbing 3 wickets for just 21 runs in his four overs, sealing a commanding bowling display for Bangladesh.
