BCCI’s Latest Contracts: Pant Climbs to Grade A, Iyer & Kishan Return to the List
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan got back central contracts, while wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was upgraded in the new retainer list announced by the BCCI.
The BCCI has announced its latest central contract list for the national men’s team, with Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan making a return. Seven players have been included in the contracts for the first time.
The list features 34 players, divided into four categories: A+, A, B, and C. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah remain in the top A+ category.
Rishabh Pant has moved up to the 'A' category after being in 'B' last season. He now joins Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, and Mohammed Shami. R Ashwin is the only player missing from this group after retiring from international cricket earlier this year.
Iyer, who is back in the contracts list, is placed in Category B alongside Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The biggest changes happened in Category C. Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma, KS Bharath, and Avesh Khan, who were part of this group last year, are now completely left out. Meanwhile, new additions to the contract list include Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, Nitish Reddy, Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, Akash Deep, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Harshit Rana.
This year's contract updates have brought both stability at the top and fresh faces into the mix.
Central Contract List
Grade A+ (4 Athletes): Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja
Grade A (6 Athletes): Mohammed Shami, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya
Grade B (5 Athletes): Kuldeep Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Grade C (19 Athletes): Rinku Singh, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, Prasidh Krishna, Dhruv Jurel, Sarafraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, Nitish Reddy, Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Akash Deep, Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana
