Champion’s Trophy Updates Till Now

Champions Trophy: Teams face challenges at the upcoming ICC event.

February 9
In South Africa’s Champion Trophy squad, Bosch to replace Nortje
South Africa has picked Corbin Bosch, a pace-bowling all-rounder, to replace Anrich Nortje. Bosch, who had a great run in the SA20 series, will join his brother Ethan in Pakistan for the ongoing tri-series. Young pacer Kwena Maphaka has also been included as a backup player. Bosch, Maphaka, and batsman Tony de Zorzi will join the team in Pakistan and might play in the tri-series against New Zealand. Additionally, former Pakistan player Yasir Arafat will be South Africa's consultant until the tournament ends.

Cummins, Hazlewood not be available for the Champions Trophy
Australia is facing a tough situation ahead of the Champions Trophy. Their captain, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood are both out due to injuries. Additionally, Marcus Stoinis has retired from ODIs, and Mitchell Marsh has withdrawn because of a back injury. These setbacks have led to four changes in their squad.
February 5
Cummins's Availability is uncertain for the Champions Trophy
Australia's head coach, Andrew McDonald, said it's very unlikely that Pat Cummins will be fit in time for the ICC Champions Trophy. Josh Hazlewood's fitness is also in doubt. Cummins, who is supposed to be the captain, hasn't started bowling again due to an ankle injury. Because of this, Australia needs to find both a fast bowler and a new captain. With Mitchell Marsh already out, Steve Smith and Travis Head are the top choices for the new captain, and a final decision will be made soon.

Fakhar Zaman is back in the Pakistan squad
Pakistan has brought back opener Fakhar Zaman for the Champions Trophy defence at home. Only three players from their 2017 title-winning squad are still in the team, including Zaman, who scored a memorable century in the final against India.
Shakeel, who last played an ODI in the 2023 World Cup, has been rewarded for his consistent performances in home Test matches. Faheem Ashraf and Khushdil Shah have also been recalled after their recent strong performances in domestic competitions. Muhammad Irfan Khan and Sufyan Moqim have been replaced by these two from Pakistan's last ODI series in South Africa.
Squad: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan (c), Fakhar Zaman, Saud Shakeel, Tayyab Tahir,  Kamran Ghulam, Faheem Ashraf, Salman Ali Agha (vc),  Khushdil Shah, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah,  Mohammad Hasnain, Shaheen Shah Afridi

No need for Rohit to Go to Pakistan
There won't be an opening ceremony or captains' photo-op for the Champions Trophy. Because of this, India's Rohit Sharma doesn't need to travel to Pakistan, ending any rumours about him crossing the border. The organizers, ICC and PCB, decided against it due to logistical challenges, as teams will arrive in Pakistan on different dates. However, the PCB will still host local pre-event ceremonies in Lahore and Karachi.

India's jersey to feature ICC-approved tournament logo
The BCCI has clarified that the Indian team will follow ICC guidelines for the tournament, confirming that their jersey will feature the official ICC logo, which includes Pakistan's name. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed controversy over the matter, stating, "We will follow the ICC directive." The decision aligns with past ICC events where host nations' names appeared on tournament logos.

The all-rounders are Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar. The wicket-keepers are KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.
