Dinesh Karthik Unites RCB as Batting Coach and A Mentor

Dinesh Karthik, a past cricketer for the National Cricket Team and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been appointed as the new batting coach and mentor for the RCB team

Dinesh Karthik, a past cricketer for the National Cricket Team and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL), has been appointed as the new batting coach and mentor for the RCB team. Karthik at the age of 39 has recently decided to pull out from all cricket matches once the IPL 2024 season is over. He will become a mentor and will help the team to work on batting strategies and on developing the talent of the players.

Dinesh Karthik played for India during the 2007 T20 World Cup winning year for which the team is known. More so, he played every season of the IPL until he retired from the sport. He also played for RCB on two different occasions and his second stint with RCB proved useful from the year 2022 to 2024.

In 2022, Karthik played exceptionally well as a finisher, which got him selected for the T20 World Cup in Australia. Although he had a quieter season in 2023, he ended his career earlier this year on a high note, scoring over 300 runs at a remarkable strike rate.

However, In a recent interview with Cricbuzz Karthik hinted at the possibility of being a coach in the future He further added that he was. It is noteworthy that he once said he would like to work as a coach, later becoming a commentator. He is eagerly looking forward to some of the former RCB players interested in joining his team in Chennai. 

Regarding the appointment as a coach, Karthik said, “Coaching especially at such a level is very inspiring to me. I believe that years of experience in playing can assist a team. ” 

RCB’s director Mo Bobat recently hired Karthik as a coach and said that he was a good player and said he would also be a good coach. He feels the present players of RCB will immensely benefit from Karthik in the franchise team.
