Duleep Game to be Hosted at Chinnaswamy Stadium: Where Pandya and Bumrah Anticipate to Feature
Karnataka State Cricket Association has confirmed that the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will be the venue for the red-ball matches for Duleep Trphy.
Indian Domestic Cricket Season’s opening match is to be hosted by The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in which Duleep Trophy is going to be featured. The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been confirmed by the KSCA for the first day of six four-day red-ball matches starting from September 5. However, there is already a venue for the muti-day tournament and that would be Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, and these particular games are decided to be held in Bangalore.
"We made this decision at the BCCI's request. The match will now be held at Chinnaswamy Stadium." statement by one of KSCA officials. The venue change shows the BCCI's plan to include top international and domestic players in the four-team Duleep Trophy before the two-match home Test series against Bangladesh, starting on September 18.
Top players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rohit Sharma are expected to be participating in the competition. Many of the international players like Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal may also be getting part, partially or fully. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will have the option to either participate.
From the top international player, the only player that might be absent is because he has stopped playing the red-ball matches. However, selectors are expected to include Ishan Kishan, who has been consistently left out of international assignments, in one of the four squads. Jasprit Bumrah will be exempt from domestic duties, and Mohammed Shami, who is still recovering from surgery, is unlikely to participate in the competition.
The decision regarding all of it is collectively made by the BCCI and selectors along with the new coach Gautam Gambhir involved in this process. The decision to include international players in domestic competitions aligns with the BCCI's efforts to prevent players from skipping domestic matches. Last year, the board notably excluded Iyer and Ishan from the central contract list as part of this policy.
The four-team Duleep Trophy is a multi-day first-class competition held in a league format, with no knockout games. The tournament concludes on September 22.
