Full Schedule for the Duleep Trophy 2024: Match Dates and Venue
Indian domestic cricket, the 17th edition of Duleep Trophy is Scheduled to begin on September 5, 2024. The competition will feature four teams: India A, India B, India C, and India D.
The Duleep Trophy has been decided to be played in two places: the Anantapur Cricket Ground Complex in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. With the Duleep Trophy the 2024-25 senior men’s India Domestic Cricket Season will be starting in early September.
The Trophy, which is usually played in a zonal format across six regions in India, is getting a makeover. This tournament helps India's red-ball cricket players showcase their skills. Last season, the South Zone team, led by Hanuma Vihari, won the title by defeating the West Zone team by 75 runs in the final held in Bengaluru. This year, the tournament will serve as preparation for India's upcoming home Test series and their tour to Australia.
Meanwhile, BCCI has made some statements that this will be a six-team zonal format and zonal selections this time. Four teams India A, India B, India C, and India D will be featured in this tournament. The selections will be done by the Senior National Selection Committee which is going to be chaired by Ajit Aagarkar.
There will be no knockout matches this year the Duleep Trophy will be played in a round-robin-league-based format. And after the three rounds whatever teams will be standing at the top will be declared as a winner.
Duleep Trophy 2024-25: Dates and Venues
The Duleep Trophy is going to be played in two venues within the Anantapur Cricket Ground Complex in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, the first match is going to be held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. From September 5 to 22 the Tournament will take place across three rounds.
Are other Senior Players like Kohli, and Rohit going to be featured in the Duleep Trophy?
Senior players like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubhman Gill, and Kuldeep Yadav get the proposal to play in the trophy. On the other hand, Speedster Jasprit Bumrah is not going to play in the tournament due to his prolonged resting period.
India's captain Rohit Sharma and star player Virat Kohli are expected to participate in one round of the Duleep Trophy. Rohit last played in this tournament in 2016, while Kohli hasn't played in a domestic First-Class match since 2012.
