Gambhir is being considered as a possible head coach for the Indian team by the BCCI
BCCI is in search of a new head coach for the India men's cricket team, as Rahul David's tenure is about to end with the culmination of T20 World cup 2024.
Since BCCI opened the applications for the position of head coach of the Indian cricket team, people have debated who will be fit to replace Rahul Dravid. Earlier, the speculation was rife that VVS Laxman could be the choice of BCCI but after that many names came forward such as Justin Langer, the former Australian coach, Stephen Fleming the CSK coach, and Gautam Gambhir KKR mentor.
Gambhir, after he retired from international cricket, has remained quite busy. He had been associated with Lucknow Super Giants as a mentor in the Indian Premier League in season 2023. He came back as the team's mentor in the IPL 2024 for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He has been instrumental in leading KKR to the playoff in the latest season of IPL and has placed the team on the top of the points list. This could have been one of the primary reasons for which the BCCI think tanks started pondering over the name of the former left-handed batsman.
Talking about the current head coach of the Indian team. Rahul Dravid’s contract ends with the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June. Though he can apply for the position again, but it will be quite unexpected if he does so.

Team India's Gambhir was a key player in many matches
Gambhir was more of a big-match player for Team India as he had often come in handy for the team when the team was really under pressure. Yuvraj showed a brilliant performance in the Finals of the T20 World Cup 2007 when the main batting order was set back.
The innings he played in the finals of the World Cup 2011 while scoring 97 is considered one of his finest. India went on to win on both occasions and the former India opener fans take pride in both innings to date.
