Gujarat, Mumbai, and Vidarbha Score Big Wins in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

Gujarat, Mumbai, and Vidarbha Score Big Wins in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

All three teams managed to bowl out their opposition below 100, before comfortably chasing it down the target.

Group A, Jaipur
Assam vs Gujarat
All thanks to Captain Chintan Gaja (5 for 27) who led Gurjat to a victory over Assam to make it three in three. Gaja received strong support from Priyajitsing Jadeja, who took 4 wickets for just 23 runs, helping to dismiss Assam for a mere 75 runs in under 20 overs. Only two of their batsmen managed to score in double digits. An impressive opening partnership of 67 runs between Urvil Patil (37) and Aarya Desai (28) brought the game almost to a close, before Assam managed to grab a couple of consolation wickets on what turned out to be a humiliating day for them on the field.
Group C, Ahmedabad
Arunachal Pradesh vs Mumbai
A strong bowling performance, along with Angkrish Raghuvanshi's quick half-century off 18 balls, led Mumbai to a convincing nine-wicket victory over Arunachal Pradesh in an unbalanced match. Choosing to bowl first, Mumbai bowled out Arunachal for just 73 runs in 33 overs. Raghuvanshi's explosive innings helped his team chase down the target with 44.3 overs remaining.
Captain Shardul Thakur and Harsh Tanna each took two wickets as Arunachal struggled early, collapsing to 30 for 6 within 19 overs, with three of their top four batsmen getting out for zero. Tech Doria was the lone fighter, managing to score a slow 13 runs off 48 balls without much support. Towards the end, Yab Niya added a few boundaries in a quick innings of 17 runs. However, the score they set was never going to be enough. Raghuvanshi hit nine fours and one six in his explosive knock, earning him the Player of the Match award.
Group D, Vizianagaram
Chhattisgarh vs Vidarbha
Yash Thakur's impressive four-wicket haul and captain Karun Nair's unbeaten score of 44 led Vidarbha to a convincing eight-wicket win against Chhattisgarh. Choosing to bowl first, Vidarbha saw Chhattisgarh struggle at the crease, with the top scorer managing only 15 runs. Thakur delivered a star performance, taking 4 wickets for just 27 runs in his 10 overs, which limited the opposition to a mere 80 runs. Although Vidarbha lost their opening batsmen early on, Nair and Yash Rathod built a solid partnership, adding 64 runs for the third wicket, guiding their team to victory comfortably in just 18 overs.
