Harry Brook Appointed As a Captain for England in Australia ODIs
Harry Brook will captain England for the first time during their five-match ODI series against Australia.
Harry Brook is appointed to lead the England team and it is happening for the very first time in his entire career. He will be leading the ODI series against Australia and the selector decided to appoint him as Jos Buttler has been knocked out for the five-match test series.
Buttler, who wasn't chosen for the T20Is, is still recovering from a calf injury. Because of his injury, Liam Livingstone has been brought back into the ODI team. Livingstone has done well in the current T20I series, taking five wickets and scoring 87 runs off 47 balls in the second match.
Buttler, who last played in the T20 World Cup semifinal against India in late July, is aiming to return to the squad for the Caribbean tour in November. Brook, who led England in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018, recently served as Ollie Pope’s deputy in the Test series against Sri Lanka during Ben Stokes’ absence.
The ECB has also announced that young fast bowler Josh Hull, who debuted in the final Test against Sri Lanka, has been withdrawn from the squad due to a quad injury. The ODI series begins on September 19 at Trent Bridge.
