Abhishek Moves to No. 2 in T20I Batting Rankings; Varun Ties for Second Among Bowlers
Abhishek Sharma jumps to career-highest T20I Rank No.2
Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma jumped 38 spots to become the second-highest-ranked batsman in the ICC men's T20I rankings. He scored 135 runs from just 54 balls in the fifth T20I against England in Mumbai. This impressive performance brought his rating to 829 points, overtaking his teammate Tilak Varma's position.
Abhishek Sharma started the series against England impressively by scoring 79 runs off just 34 balls to help India chase down 133 in Kolkata. Although he didn't score more than 29 in the next three games, he delivered an extraordinary performance in the fifth T20I, hitting seven fours and 13 sixes. This led to India's 150-run victory.
Travis Head leads the T20I batting rankings, followed by Phil Salt and Suryakumar Yadav in the top five.
Meanwhile, Varun Chakravarthy, the leading wicket-taker in the series, moved up three spots to become the joint-second-ranked T20I bowler. He took 14 wickets in five games at an average of 9.85. His T20I performances earned him a spot in India's ODI squad against England. Varun took his second T20I five-wicket haul and is now level on points with England's Adil Rashid. Both Varun and Rashid are just two points behind Akeal Hosein, who reclaimed the top spot after Rashid's performance of 1 for 41 in Mumbai.
Ravi Bishnoi, another Indian spinner, made significant progress in the rankings, climbing four spots to sixth place. In the Mumbai match, he took 1 wicket for 9 runs in one over and ended the series with five wickets. On the other hand, Jofra Archer conceded 55 runs in his four overs in the same match, causing him to drop four spots to tenth in the rankings.
