India Easily Wins Series 2-0 Against Sri Lanka with Convincing 7 Wicket
India won the rain affected second T20I match against Sri Lanka by 7 wickets using the DLS method in Pallekele, securing the three-match series.
India won the second T20I match against Sri Lanka by 7 wickets using the DLS method in Pallekele, securing the three-match series. Due to rain, the target was revised to 78 runs in 8 overs, which India achieved in 6.3 overs, scoring 81 runs. In which Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 30 runs off 15 balls, Suryakumar Yadav added 26 runs, and Hardik Pandya contributed 22 runs. Ravi Bishnoi was named Player of the Match for his 3 wickets.
Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Matheesha Pathirana took one wicket for Sri Lanka. After losing the toss, Sri Lanka, led by Charith Asalanka, set a target of 162 runs, scoring 161/9 in 20 overs. Kusal Perera top-scored with 54 runs, while Pathum Nissanka and Kamindu Mendis added 32 and 26 runs, respectively.
The third T20I will be played at the same venue on 30 July. In the first T20I, India won by 43 runs. Despite rain delays, the second match started at 7:45 pm, with Suryakumar Yadav winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Shubman Gill was ruled out due to a neck spasm and was replaced by Sanju Samson.
India will aim to continue their winning streak, while Sri Lanka will look to bounce back in the final match.

Initial Overs
Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel bowled during the middle overs. Bishnoi had a mixed performance against Kusal Perera, who hit a few boundaries. Axar Patel had a tough over, with Nissanka hitting a boundary and a single. Axar's LBW review against Nissanka was unsuccessful because the ball was missing the leg stump.
Mohammed Siraj had a challenging time as Perera hit a six and a four. Siraj struggled with his length, allowing Perera to score more runs. Nissanka also added a single. In a key moment, Arshdeep Singh got Kusal Mendis out with a slower ball. Perera and Nissanka continued to score with boundaries and singles.
Overall, the innings had a mix of aggressive batting and strategic bowling, with both teams trying to make the most of their chances and handle the pressure of the match. And after completing the 6 over Sri Lanks was scored 63-1.
Middle Overs
In the latter stages of the match, Hardik Pandya did some amazing work with his bowling skills and was able to dismiss both Kusal Perera and Kamindu Mendis in the same over. Perera, who had scored a solid 53, was caught by Rinku Singh at deep square leg after misjudging a short ball. Earlier, Pandya had struggled with his line, delivering several wides and a no-ball, but he managed to break the partnership with Mendis's wicket. Mendis tried to play a big shot but was caught by Rinku Singh as well.
Riyan Parag and Ravi Bishnoi also contributed to the game. Parag took a few wickets and struggled with his line but managed to get some runs and keep the scoring in check. Bishnoi was effective with his spin, getting Nissanka out of LBW after a review confirmed the decision. The partnership between Perera and Mendis was broken, and Sri Lanka's innings saw a mix of solid batting and key breakthroughs by the bowlers.
Death Overs
In the final overs of the match, the tension was high as Sri Lanka sought to finish strongly. Axar Patel played a pivotal role, first dismissing Theekshana, who was bowled out after attempting a big shot. Patel continued his good form by stumping Ramesh Mendis, who had stepped out of his crease and missed a slower ball. Earlier, Arshdeep Singh dismissed Asalanka with a low full toss that was easily caught by Samson.
Ravi Bishnoi also made a significant impact, taking back-to-back wickets by bowling out Shanaka and Hasaranga. Shanaka was dismissed for a golden duck, and Hasaranga fell victim to a googly. Bishnoi ended with impressive figures, taking three wickets in total.
Asalanka and Mendis tried to keep the innings going with a few runs, but the Indian bowlers' effective death-overs performance ensured Sri Lanka's innings fell short of a competitive total.

Hasaranga’s over saw some aggressive batting, with Jaiswal smashing a six and a four, and Suryakumar adding a couple of boundaries. Theekshana struggled with his grip, allowing Suryakumar to score more boundaries, while Jaiswal added a single. Sri Lanka’s review attempt against Jaiswal failed.
Pathirana’s over was a mix of success and struggle. Suryakumar hit a six before getting out, and Hardik Pandya scored a couple of boundaries and a single. Hasaranga then took a key wicket, dismissing Jaiswal after he scored 30 off 15 balls.
Hardik Pandya continued to perform well with more boundaries and singles. However, a sudden rain delay briefly halted the game, with covers brought on and players leaving the field. The match featured aggressive batting, key wickets, and an unexpected rain interruption. And India wins by 7 wickets.
