The Indian team did not get clearance from the Indian government to travel to Pakistan.
On Wednesday The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) made an announcement that they are taking out the team from the fourth edition of the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup that is decided to be held in Pakistan, as they were not able to get the Indian government's clearance and let the team fly to Pakistan.
The tournament is decided to start on November 22 and will last till December 3.
"This is a big disappointment for the team, but CABI respects the government's concerns and decision," the board said in a statement. "The team had been training hard and was excited to compete. However, we follow the government's guidance and stay committed to growing Blind Cricket in India."
Durga Rao Tompaki, the captain of the Indian men's cricket team said, that all the Indian teams were excited to play with passion and represent their country with pride. They always wish to compete at the highest level and it's disappointing now they are gonna miss that opportunity. He said that they had a great training session and they really looking forward to seeing emerging talents to reach different heights. It is time to praise that talent and make sure our team is ready for the next tournament or not.
This decision comes just 100 days before the 2025 Champions Trophy, which is also scheduled to take place in Pakistan. On November 9, the BCCI informed the ICC that India would not participate in the tournament in Pakistan, following advice from the Indian government.
The ICC was initially expected to release the schedule for the Champions Trophy today.
India has a strong history in the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, hosting and winning the first three editions. They defeated Pakistan in the finals of the first two tournaments and Bangladesh in their most recent victory.
