India Wins Series as Nitish Kumar Reddy Shines in All-Round Performance
India 221 for 9 (Reddy 74, Rinku 53, Taskin 2-16) beat Bangladesh 135 for 9 (Mahmudullah 41, Varun 2-19, Reddy 2-23) by 86 runs
Indian batters took advantage of Bangladesh's poor bowling to secure a win on a Delhi pitch that initially favoured bowlers but turned into a good batting surface as the match progressed. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh rescued India from a tough situation, leading them to 221 runs, with Hardik Pandya providing a strong finish. Despite the improved batting conditions, India's bowlers were still too strong for Bangladesh, resulting in a series win for India.
In both comparisons, Bangladesh spinner has to face problems. The fast bowlers bowled 12 overs and gave away 102 runs, while the spinners conceded 116 runs in eight overs. The spinners from India then added insult to injury by bowling nine overs, taking five wickets, and giving away only 49 runs.
At the start, India Struggled
After the toss, Bangladesh wanted to take advantage of the dew later on and chase, while India wanted to bat first to see how their bowlers perform in the dew. Bangladesh started with the bowling with Mehidy Hasan Miraz and his arm balls were too full or too short and separated by Sanju Samson. Because the surface was tacky the fast bowler wasn’t able to perform well. On the other hand, because of pitch slowness, Suryakumar and Samson couldn’t play checked shot and Abhishek Sharma got out while attempting to hit Tanzim Hasan for a big shot.
Reddy Get some Luck
From the start wasn’t able to perform well. Reddy in his innings got out two times. When Litton Das missed catching the ball down the leg side, Reddy's score increased to 6 runs from 4 balls. He was at 19 runs from 14 balls when he narrowly avoided getting out lbw while attempting a reverse-sweep. Out of those 19 runs, one was a six that came from a free hit due to a no-ball by Mahmudullah.
India Started Given Performace
In T20 Cricket Rishand Hossain is a great legspinner. But In the fifth ball, he bowled too full, and Rinku hit a six with a slog-sweep. Mahmudulllah then offered a free hit. In the second over, Rishad made mistakes with the length on both sides. Reddy hit two sixes down the ground, and Rinku pulled for one. This 24-run-over helped India reach over 100 runs in 10 overs.
After that without the boundary only Mustafizur Rahma and Taskin Ahmed were able to hit the over. Mehidy faced a tough time because he couldn't prevent Reddy from scoring runs in the 13th over. He ended up giving away 26 runs, and despite looking set to score a hundred in only his second match, he got dismissed for 74 off 34 balls by a slower ball from Mustafizur.
For Bangladesh, it was the right time at which they could squeeze in an over of spin but Hardik Pandya took full advantage of Rishand’s error of length. Rinku seems to be a hidden partner in this but he completed his half-century with almost two a ball.
As India continued to lose wickets in their search for quick runs, Rishad provided some relief by bowling the last over and conceding only eight runs. Bangladesh still needed to achieve their highest T20I score in order to stay in the series.
A bridge too far
There might be a cause that why Bangladesh wasn’t able to score more than 215 runs in the T20Is as their batters don’t seem to own the game. The batters took a lot of risks and got off to a quick start, but it wasn't long before the risks caught up with them. Parvez Hossain was dismissed by Arshdeep, Washington Sundar got Najmul Hossain Shanto out twice, Litton Das struggled against Varun Chakravarthy, Towhid Hridoy fell to an Abhishek Sharma delivery, and the game was pretty much over at 46 for 4 in the seventh over.
After that, it was just a formality. There was a wicket for Riyan Parag, a great catch by Pandya, and at least one wicket for each of the seven Indian bowlers.
