Jacob Duffy has become the top bowler in the T20I latest ICC rankings
New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy has overtaken Akeal Hosein as the No. 1-ranked bowler in the T20Is rankings. 13-wicket display against Pakistan, the pacer has been named as the new No.1 T20I bowler.
Jacob Duffy, the New Zealand fast bowler, has now become the No.1 men’s T20I bowler. As the West Indies left-arm spinner, Duffy has taken the first spot. Akeal Hosein continues to shine after his impressive performances in New Zealand's T20 matches against Pakistan at home.
Duffy took 13 wickets in five matches, averaging 8.38, which included a personal best of 4 wickets for 14 runs. His performance helped New Zealand win the series 4-1. He moved up four places in the rankings, passing Hosein, Varun Chakaravarthy, Adil Rashid, and Wanindu Hasaranga to claim the top spot. This is Duffy's first time being ranked No. 1 in any format and the first New Zealand player to reach the top of the men's T20I bowling rankings since Ish Sodhi in 2018.
Duffy started his T20I career with New Zealand in 2020 and has taken 32 wickets in 23 matches.
"It's a bit surprising to become the No. 1 bowler," Duffy said. "It's great to be included with such talented players. It feels amazing and a bit unreal."
In batting, Duffy's teammate Tim Seifert moved up five places to No. 8. Seifert scored a total of 249 runs in five games against Pakistan, averaging 62.25, with a best score of 97* in the fifth T20I. Seifert's opening partner, Finn Allen, gained one spot to reach No. 15 in the batting rankings. Australia's Travis Head remains in the No. 1 spot, followed by India's Abhishek Sharma at No. 2 and England's Phil Salt at No. 3.
In the all-rounders category, New Zealand's James Neesham jumped 14 places to No. 30 after strong performances against Pakistan, including a career-best of 5 for 22 in the fifth T20I.
