Jadeja says domestic cricket keeps him in form for ODIs

Jadeja credits domestic cricket with getting ODI rhythm. Jadeja had picked 3 wickets in his 10 overs quota in the second ODI against England.

Ravindra Jadeja praises the Domestic cricket for their excellent performance in the ODI, which was the first he played since the 2023 World Cup final. In two matches against a strong England team, Jadeja has given up just two boundaries in 19 overs and taken six wickets. He has been crucial in India's series win, achieved even before the final ODI, which will also be his 200th match.
Jadeja said that he is feeling good as he is playing ODIs after two years. He is required to adapt the format quickly. He mentioned that the domestic match that he played against Delhi helped him do his best. In that match, he bowled 30 overs after which he didn’t lose the rhythm, and continuity stayed. Which is why he thinks that domestic has helped him a lot.
Jadeja took retirement after the T20Is in India’s World Cup in June 2024, which caused him not to play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which ended this year’s first week. In this period he played two Ranji Trophy over this period but bowled in one only.
India's domestic cricket, particularly the Ranji Trophy, has been highlighted by the board's rule that players shouldn't skip matches unless injured or managing their workload. Virat Kohli played for Delhi after 12 years, and Rohit Sharma for Mumbai after 10 years. The board faced some criticism for this strict approach, especially since the format was different after the break.
However, playing consistently seems to have benefited Jadeja, supporting the board's belief that playing matches is the best way to improve as a cricketer.
