Jasprit Bumrah Reveals Which India Captain Made Him Feel “Very Secure” – And It’s Not Rohit Sharma
Bumrah, who made his international debut under MS Dhoni's captaincy, recently revealed how the then India skipper helped him in the team.
Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is a special talent who needs to be carefully managed. The BCCI has done a good job in handling his workload, and Bumrah is now considered a national treasure. He has earned this respect through his excellent performances over the years. Since his debut in 2016, Bumrah has become a key player for the Indian team.
Jasprit Bumrah, who debuted internationally under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, recently shared how Dhoni supported him in the team. Bumrah mentioned that Dhoni quickly made him feel secure and trusted his instincts rather than relying on extensive planning.
After Dhoni, Virat Kohli took over as captain and led India in all formats before stepping down, with Rohit Sharma succeeding him.
Virat Kohli is full of energy and passion, and he always shows his emotions. He pushed us to improve our fitness and changed our approach. Even though Virat is no longer the captain, he remains a leader. Captaincy is just a title, but the team is driven by all 11 players,” said Bumrah.
Currently, Bumrah plays under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in Test and ODI formats, while Suryakumar Yadav has been the T20I captain for a few months.
Rohit Sharma is one of the few captains who, despite being a batsman, shows empathy towards bowlers. He understands their emotions and what they are going through. Rohit is flexible and open to feedback,” said Bumrah.
Dhoni retired from international cricket in 2020. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma stepped down from T20Is after India’s World Cup victory in Barbados on June 29 this year.
