Karnataka Reigns Supreme to Clinch Vijay Hazare Trophy

Karnataka have an unprecedented record of reaching five finals and winning all of them.

Dhruv Shorey’s sixth List A century went in vain as Karnataka ended Vidarbha’s unbeaten streak with a 36-run victory in Vadodara on Saturday to claim the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25.
Karnataka, led by Smaran Ravichandran’s second List A century and quickfire fifties from K Shrijith (78 off 74) and Abhinav Manohar (79 off 42), together they made a total of 348/6 after being put into bat. Vidarbha started steadily in their chase but kept losing wickets regularly, falling behind the required run rate. The target had slipped out of reach when Harsh Dubey provided some late fireworks.
Karnataka had a weak start, losing the in-form Devdutt Padikkal early. Though Mayank Agarwal and Aneesh KV steadied the innings briefly, their quick dismissals left Karnataka at 67/3. However, Smaran and Shrijith anchored the innings with a crucial 160-run partnership for the fourth wicket, maintaining a steady flow of runs through singles and punishing loose deliveries. Smaran was especially aggressive, smashing three sixes.
Shrijith was dismissed against the run of play, but Karnataka kept the momentum going, credit goes to Manohar’s explosive knock. He breaks boundaries and sixes off Vidarbha’s bowlers, providing Karnataka's late boost to cross 340.
In response, Vidarbha’s batters struggled under pressure. Yash Rathod gave a quick start, hitting five boundaries in 19 balls, but key players like Karun Nair (27) couldn’t convert their starts. Shorey and Jitesh Sharma’s 62-run partnership for the fourth wicket kept Vidarbha in the hunt, but once Jitesh was dismissed, the chase fell apart.
Harsh Dubey tried to rescue the innings with a blazing 63 off 30 balls, hitting five sixes and five boundaries. However, he lacked support from the other end as wickets tumbled under the mounting run rate. Vidarbha was eventually bowled out for 312, sealing Karnataka’s win and their Vijay Hazare Trophy triumph.
