Goa won the Ranji Trophy Plate group final with a 362-run win over Nagaland.
Goa gets the reward of the Ranji Trophy group final as they get an excellent win against Nagaland by 362 runs in Dimapur. Nehal Kauthankar scored an unbeaten 202, and Kashyap Bakhale added 161 in a strong partnership of 278 runs during Goa's second innings. This shifted the closely contested match in favour of Goa.
Goa was chosen to bat first but instead of that, Nagaland played well and bowled all of them at 276 runs and the team was led by spinner Jagadeesha Suchith's four-fer. Suyash Prabhudessai, Kauthankar, and Bakhale played great and scored a half-century despite the fact that no other player was able to do their best. Nagaland started off really bad and lost their two wickets by scoring just seven runs. Their two promising players Hem Chetri and Jonathan Rongsen get back the team into the match and bring up a total of 134 run stand.
Meanwhile, Heramb Parab picked up five wickets and gave a trigger to the Nagaland. The hosts after facing 159 for 3 collapsed 216 runs and gave Goa a total of 60 runs of lead. The game had its ups and downs when Suchith and Nagaho Chishi put Goa in a tough spot at 42 for 3 in their second innings, and Nagaland felt confident. However, Kauthankar and Bakhale formed a strong partnership that lasted nearly 88 overs. Darshan Misal also contributed with 67 runs, making things even harder for Nagaland.
Nagaland was required to chase a tough target of 578 to win the Ranji Plate trophy. They started well with a 50-run opening partnership but quickly fell to 82 for 5 after being at 62 for no loss. Goa's captain, Misal, was key in breaking through Nagaland's batting. Suchith and Imliwati Lemtur added 59 runs together, but it only postponed the loss for Nagaland. In the end, Nagaland was bowled out for 215, and Goa clinched the Ranji Plate division victory.
