Kerala Battles Back in Ranji Trophy Final
Kerala finished the day 2 on 131/3 with Aditya Sarwate batting on 66.
On the second day of the Ranji Trophy final, Kerala ended at 131/3, trailing by 248 runs. Danish Malewar's 154 runs and a strong 44-run last-wicket partnership pushed Vidarbha's score to 379.
Vidarbha started the day with a score of 254/4 and quickly added some runs. Malewar was the first to be dismissed by Nedumankuzhy Basil. Vidarbha went from 290/5 to 297/7 as Yash Thakur and Yash Rathod got out soon. Akshay Karnewar and Akshay Wadkar then added 36 runs before Jalaj Saxena dismissed Karnewar. Eden Apple Tom took Wadkar's wicket three overs later, leaving Vidarbha nine down.
However, Vidarbha's last-wicket pair resisted, with Nachiket Bhute scoring 32 off 38 balls. MD Nidheesh ended Bhute's innings, finishing with figures of 3-61. Apple Tom also took three wickets, with figures of 3-102.
Kerala's batting started shakily as Darshan Nalkande dismissed opener Rohan Kunnummal in the first over and Akshay Chandran in the third over, reducing Kerala to 14/2. Aditya Sarwate, batting at No.3, scored a half-century and added 93 runs for the third wicket with Ahammed Imran, taking the team past 100 runs.
Towards the end of the day, Yash Thakur dismissed Imran for 37. Sachin Baby and Sarwate then took Kerala to stumps without further losses.
