Left-Arm Spinner Shines Again with Bat and Ball, Restricts DC to 162
IPL 2025: Kohli-Pandya Partnership Lifts RCB to Top of IPL 2025 Table After clinching a crucial win against Delhi Capitals. Kohli and Krunal Pandya Built a Partnership of 119 runs for the fourth wicket.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) beat Delhi Capitals (DC) in a tense, low-scoring match on a tricky pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Thanks to Krunal Pandya's brilliant performance with both ball and bat, RCB now sit at the top of the points table.
RCB dominate with the ball
RCB bowled first and did a great job by restricting DC to just 162 for 8. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood were superb, sharing five wickets. With their smart spin bowling, Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya kept it tight in the middle overs.
DC's innings had a few bright spots Abishek Porel smashed 28 runs off just 11 balls at the start, and Tristan Stubbs scored a lively 34 off 18 balls at the end. But the rest of their batters struggled badly, scoring slowly. Important players like Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul couldn’t get going because the pitch was slow and difficult to bat on.
RCB’s bowlers kept the pressure up. Hazlewood bowled out the DC captain, Axar Patel, just when he was getting dangerous. Bhuvneshwar then got rid of Rahul and later dismissed Stubbs in the final over, finishing DC’s hopes of a big score.
Tough start for RCB chase, but Krunal and Kohli fight back
RCB’s chase started badly they were 26 for 3 in just four overs! Jacob Bethell, playing his first IPL game, hit a few quick boundaries but got out early too. Karun Nair’s sharp fielding led to Rajat Patidar’s run-out, putting RCB under more pressure.
However, Krunal Pandya and Virat Kohli then joined forces and turned things around. It wasn’t easy at first by the 10-over mark, they had added only 40 runs in 36 balls and looked uncomfortable. But Krunal found his rhythm, hitting sixes and boundaries to change the momentum.
Krunal, after scoring slowly at first (17 off 21 balls), blasted 56 runs off his next 26 balls! Kohli played the anchor role, scoring 51 off 47 balls before getting out when RCB needed just 18 more runs.
After Kohli got out, Tim David came in and finished the game quickly, hitting several boundaries and taking RCB home with nine balls to spare.
