Mandhana scored the fastest century for India in women's ODI along the way

Mandhana's 135 off 80 balls and Rawal's 154 help India cross 400 runs for the first time

Mandhana and Rawal break records with their 233-run opening-wicket stand as India top 400 for the first time in ODIs

In a historic game in Rajkot, India scored 435 for 5, their highest ODI total, beating their previous best of 370 for 5 from the last match. This is also the fourth-highest total ever in women’s ODIs.
Ireland had a tough day, starting with losing the toss. India chose to bat, and Smriti Mandhana led the way by hitting the fastest ODI century by an Indian batter, reaching 100 in just 70 balls and breaking Harmanpreet Kaur’s record by 17 balls. Mandhana scored 135 off 80 balls, smashing 12 fours and seven sixes, tying Harmanpreet’s record for most sixes in an innings by an Indian batter.
Pratika Rawal, opening with Mandhana, achieved her first ODI century in 100 balls and went on to score 154 off 129 deliveries. Only two Indian batters have ever scored higher in the format: Deepti Sharma (188) and Harmanpreet Kaur (171*).
Mandhana and Rawal built a massive 233-run partnership for the first wicket, India’s third-highest opening stand in ODIs. The momentum shifted early, with Rawal hitting Orla Prendergast for three boundaries in the third over. By the sixth over, Rawal had raced to 29 off 25 balls with six fours.
Mandhana, initially playing a supporting role, had an early stroke of luck in the seventh over when wicketkeeper Christina Coulter Reilly missed a catch off an edge from Arlene Kelly's delivery. Mandhana was on 12 off 13 at the time but quickly took charge, smashing Kelly for two fours in the same over. In Kelly’s next over, Mandhana hammered two sixes and a four, fully shifting into attack mode.
Hundreds were bought by Mandhana and Rawal in just the 13th over. That was their fourth century that had been achieved in just six innings.
Mandhana became the first who reach her 50 and had done it in just 39 balls, whereas Rawal required 52 balls for the 50 runs. It was Rawal's fourth 50-plus score in six ODIs.
Mandhana played with ease and it looked more like a practice session than a match. She dominated the bowlers, capitalizing on Ireland’s poor bowling and sloppy fielding. Her aggressive approach left Rawal behind in the scoring. By the time Mandhana brought up her century in 70 balls, Rawal was still on 72 off 69.
After Mandhana was not able to clear the Short fine leg she was dismissed against Prendergast. Ireland found no relief as Richa Ghosh promoted to No. 3, carried the momentum forward with a quickfire 59 off 42 balls. Together, she and Rawal added 104 runs in just 12 overs.
After reaching her century, Rawal accelerated further, smashing 54 runs off the next 29 balls she faced. This innings brought her ODI run tally to 444, making her the highest run-scorer ever in their first six innings.
By this point, the main question was whether India could cross 400 runs. They achieved the milestone with four overs to spare and continued piling on runs, finishing with an imposing total.

Brief scores: India 435/5 in 50 overs (Pratika Rawal 154, Smriti Mandhana 135; Orla Prendergast 2-71) beat Ireland 131/10 in 31.4 overs (Sarah Forbes 41, Orla Prendergast 36; Deepti Sharma 3-27) by 304 runs
