Mayank Yadav and Nitish Reddy Selected for Bangladesh T20 Series
Mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who last played a T20I in 2021, has been recalled for Bangladesh Series
Pacer Mayank Yadav, who made headlines in the IPL, has been chosen for India’s T20I series against Bangladesh at home. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who also impressed in IPL 2024, is part of the 15-member squad that excludes the regular Test players.
Mayank caught attention earlier this year in the IPL while playing for Lucknow Super Giants with his fast bowling. After missing a few games due to a side strain, he tried to return but the injury came back, limiting him to just four matches. His return now is a big boost for India as they prepare for the Australian tour.
Nitish is also eager to make his mark. He was initially selected for the Zimbabwe tour earlier this year after a standout season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 303 runs, but an injury kept him out. He recently proved his fitness in the Duleep Trophy, earning his spot back in the national team.
From the squad that toured Sri Lanka in July, the selectors have excluded Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, and Khaleel Ahmed. With India scheduled to play three home Tests next month followed by the Australian tour, the regular Test players have been given a break.
Abhishek Sharma, who scored a century in Zimbabwe in just his second T20I, is back in the squad. Varun Chakravarthy, Harshit Rana, and Jitesh Sharma have also been included.
The three-match series begins on October 6 in Gwalior, with the following games in New Delhi and Hyderabad.
