Musheer Khan Sparks India B’s Comeback with Stunning Century
Musheer Khan's unbeaten 105 rescued India B from 94 for 7
Muskheer Khan a Nineteen-year-old player cape the opening on the first day of the match in Bengaluru at the time when he struggled to pick up the century. When his team was struggling against an experienced India A attack in the Duleep Trophy, nineteen-year-old Musheer Khan stepped up and single-handedly took the team to a respectable total. He scored more than half of the team's total of 202 by the end of the first day.
During the first sessions, India's fast bowlers, Khaleel Ahmed and Akash Deep, caught early attention. The overcast conditions and a green-tinged pitch helped them get some movement, making it tough for Yashasvi Jaiswal. Although they didn't clock very high speeds (only around 130kph), their disciplined bowling troubled the batters. In his first spell, Akash Deep bowled 8 overs, conceded 11 runs, and took no wickets, while Avesh Khan bowled 7 overs, conceded 10 runs, and took 1 wicket.
India B batted first, and their openers played carefully for the first 12 overs, scoring only 33 runs. Jaiswal was cautious with his shots, waiting for the bowlers to make mistakes. However, his partner Abhimanyu Easwaran got out when he tried to hit a wide ball and was caught behind. Khaleel bowled well in his second spell and got Jaiswal out with a good delivery. He ended his spell with figures of 1 wicket for 15 runs in 5 overs.
Sarfraz and Musheer Khan, the brothers from Mumbai, didn't make much noise even though Sarfraz started with a boundary. By the time lunch came around, India B had only scored 65 runs for the loss of both openers in the first 30 overs.
The second session started well for India A when Avesh got Sarfaraz out LBW with a sharp delivery, setting the stage for Rishabh Pant's highly anticipated return to red-ball cricket.
The left-handed batsman tried to play aggressively but didn't succeed. He missed a full toss and then got out after a brief and unsteady innings. Pant tried to take on the bowler Akash but ended up giving a catch. Akash, the Bengal bowler, got better with the old ball and became more dangerous. He bowled a fantastic delivery to dismiss Nitish Reddy for a golden duck. After Lunch, Akash took two more wickets in quick succession. He also managed to find Washington Sundar short with a direct hit, getting him out for a duck. India B lost their fifth wicket of the session when R Sai Kishore edged Khaleel to slip, reducing their score to 94 for 7.
Throughout the day, Musheer Khan was the only bright spot for the team. Despite facing tough challenges, he held his ground and scored a half-century off 118 balls. He teamed up with Navdeep Saini and focused on scoring off Kuldeep Yadav's spin, hitting four boundaries effectively.
As the day progressed, Musheer picked up the pace and confidently partnered with Saini, putting on an unbeaten 108-run stand. He eventually scored a century off 205 balls, taking advantage of the older ball and putting pressure on the spinners. Musheer's strong performance made him the standout player of the day.
