Bangladesh’s captain Najmul Hossain agrees that preceding skippers Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah will keep on supporting him in tough times as they are doing at present as Najmul is getting ready for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is beginning on 1st June 2024 in the U.S.A and West Indies.

Najmul, who was designated as across-format captain on 12th February this year, possess the experience of handling the national group in an ICC even when he shepherded the crew against India and Sri Lanka in India at the One Day Internationals World canister caused by the absenteeism of Shakib al Hasan.

But this time things are different. Everyone will watch Najmul as Bangladesh starts their T20 World Cup men's journey against Sri Lanka in Dallas on June 7th.

Najmul said having knowledgeable players on the squad is great, mainly for those in their first World Cup. It was stated on the popular social media platform on Tuesday.

He said, there is more to learn from them. They've got leadership qualities that will support me in difficult times. At any time, I need something, they step up. The World Cup will be no different.

He added, “I think all cricket players dream of playing for their country. Playing in the World Cup is an inspiring and proud moment for any cricketer. I just want to have fun and do my best for the team. That's what matters. I don't want to feel too stressed about being the captain. I just want to enjoy every moment.”

Najmul encouraged his teammates to stick to the plan and pay attention to the little details. He stressed the importance of addressing the problems at the beginning of their batting lineup and improving their bowling towards the end of matches before the big event. Bangladesh started training in the USA with a loss in their first-ever T20I series against the hosts. After facing two tough defeats, they managed to bounce back and clinch a confidence-boosting victory by ten wickets.

He also stated, “When we play in a big tournament, we should dream big. He mentioned that we're eager to work together and achieve new goals. Overthinking about what we expect can stress us out, so it's key to stick to the plan and if we pay attention to the little things, we'll get good results. He also mentioned he's hoping for great support in the USA.

He said, “The fans who love and support cricket help the team stay strong. Even when things are tough, I hope they keep cheering for the team”.
