New Zealand Fast Bowler Ben Sears Misses India Tour; Uncapped Jacob Duffy Added to Squad
Ben Sears, the New Zealand pacer, has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against India due to a knee injury.
Due to a knee injury, one of the fast bowlers of New Zealand has been ruled out from their tour of India for the three-match series. Instead of him, Jacob Duffy has been called to take place and they will be leaving for India on Wednesday morning, for the first day of the first match.
At the time of training, Sears was experiencing pain in his left knee at the time of their recent test series in Sri Lanka and now he has been undergoing scans since last week as per the New Zealand cricket statement. He couldn't go to India because he hurt his knee. Doctors checked him to see if he could still go, but he couldn't.
And because of the medical advice that decision has been made to rule him out for the recent series. And he has been under the best course of treatment and rehabilitation for the injury.
Since Sears and Duffy won't be playing, New Zealand will use Tim Southee, Matt Henry, and Will O'Rourke as their fast bowlers. For spin bowling, they have Ajaz Patel, Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Michael Bracewell, and Glenn Phillips. Daryl Mitchell can also bowl fast if they need him.
In between all of this New Zealand head coach Gary Stead made a statement and said that they are obviously disappointed for Ben who made a great start in his test career at the time of home summer and has the offers of a genuine pace.
We don't know how long he'll be out, but we hope he gets better soon. It's a good chance for Jacob, who has been with the Test team before. There are three Tests, so he might play his first Test match.
Duffy is 30 years old and has played six one-day matches and 14 Twenty20 matches. He has 299 wickets in first-class cricket.
