New Zealand To Lead by Santner Against Sri Lanka In T20Is and ODIs
New Zealand have called up all-rounder Nathan Smith and keeper-batter Mitch Hay for the first time in the 15-man squad
New Zealand will be led by Mitchell Santer in the T20Is and Three ODIs against Sri Lanka that are going to start on the 9th of November. This is going to be New Zealand’s first-ever limited-overs of series as Kane Williamson is not leading the team this time, and the decision was made after June's shock exit in the T20 World Cup.
This time all-rounder Nathan Smith and Keeper-batter Mitch are going to be in the for the first time in the 15-man squad which has already been announced by New Zealand Cricket (NZC) in a press release.
Santer has been assigned as an interim captain for the series, and the permanent captain for the T20Is and ODIs will be decided at the time of home summer this year later.
In March Nathan Smith got the NZC’a domestic Player of the Year award. As in the domestic ODI and T20 competitions, he was able to pick 24 wickets along with career-best figures of 4 for 5 in the super smash. On the other hand, Hay who is only 24 years old gets the Canterbury's male Player of the Year, in the early months of this year.
From the pace attacks, there will be Lockie Ferguson, Jacob Duffy and Zak Foulkes and for the most experienced spinner selectors have decided to take Ish Sodhi in the squad. Spin-bowling all-rounders Micheal Bracewell, Glenn Philips and Dean Foxcroft will be accompanied by Sodhi.
And from the batting unit, there will be Mark Chapman, Phillips, Josh Clarkson and Henry Nicholls added to the squad.
Devon Conway, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell, Tom Latham, Rachin Ravindra, Will O'Rourke, Tim Southee, Rachin Ravindra, and Kane Williamson are those eight players who are currently playing against India this not be considered the squad as they will prepare for the three-match that is going to be played against England.
