Stoinis makes a surprising choice to retire from ODIs and will miss the Champions Trophy

Marcus Stoinis played 71 ODI Matches and scored 1495 with an average of 26.69.

Marcus Stoinis the Australian Allrounder has announced his retirement which is quite shocking as he announced it very immediately from ODI cricket which makes him unavailable for the Champions Trophy.
Stoinis is 35 years old and now he is mainly going to focus on T20 cricket and going to be available for all forms of cricket in Australia. With an average of 26.69, he scored a total of 1495 runs in a total of 71 ODIs and has a best of 146 and is still not out against New Zealand in 2017 Auckland and he has been able to take 48 wickets at an average of 43.12 apiece.
With retirement, he said that “ it has been an incredible journey playing ODI matches with Australia and he is really glad for every moment he had in the green and the gold. He cherishes representing his country at the highest level.
The decision wasn’t an easy go for him but he believes that this would be the right time to take a step out from the ODIs and focus on his career’s next chapter. With Andrew, he has an amazing connection and he will always cherish his support. And in Pakistan, he will Definitely gonna cheer the rest of the team players.
In the 2023 ODI World Cup, he played an absolutely important role with the balls against Pakistan, where Australia couldn’t start off well but became a champion at last.
However, he only played one additional ODI after that World Cup, which was against Pakistan earlier this season. He didn't receive a Cricket Australia contract last year but was expected to play a role in the Champions Trophy, stepping in for the injured Cameron Green.
On his retirement, McDonald said that Stoinis had an incredible journey with the team.
Not only has he been an invaluable player, but he has also been an incredible person to have in the team. He is a natural leader, very popular among his peers, and an all-around great person. He deserves to be congratulated on his ODI career and all of his achievements.
Marcus Stoinis' injury during the SA20 and his subsequent retirement from ODI cricket has indeed created quite a stir. It's definitely a big blow for Australia, especially with the upcoming Champions Trophy.
With Stoinis stepping back, along with injuries to Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood, Australia will need to make several changes to their squad. It's going to be interesting to see who gets picked as replacements.
