Pakistan vs Bangladesh 1st Day Highlights

Saud Shakeel and Saim Ayub help Pakistan dominate the first day.

The first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at Rawalpindi where Bangladesh choose to bowl after winning the toss. Pakistan’s start wasn’t the best as they lost three quick wickets that also included an important dismissal of captain Babar Azam for a duck, leaving them reeling at 16/3. However, the seasoned Saud Shakeel and the young Mohammad Rizwan stabilized the situation with a strong partnership. Shakeel was great throughout the match, and played a crucial knock, remaining unbeaten at the end of the day. Rizwan, who plays both aggressively and smartly, helped Shakeel a lot before he got out. The duo’s partnership was really helpful in Pakistan reaching a respectable score of 158/4 by the end of the first day’s play.
Bangladesh’s bowlers, especially their pacers, were impressive in the initial overs, as they set the conditions very well to put Pakistan under pressure. Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain bowled great in the match, as each taking crucial wickets early on. Taskin’s delivery to dismiss Babar Azam was particularly something that needs to be noticed, as the ball swung late, hit the edge of the bat, and was safely caught by the wicketkeeper. Ebadot’s consistent line and length troubled the Pakistani batsmen, leading to his success in breaking the opening partnership.
As the day went on, the pitch seemed to ease out, which allowed Pakistani batsmen to find their rhythm. Saud Shakeel’s innings are great in terms of patience and shot selection, as he carefully understands the challenging conditions. His partnership with Rizwan was marked by excellent running between the wickets and occasional boundaries that kept the scoreboard ticking. Rizwan’s dismissal, however, brought a momentary halt to Pakistan’s recovery, but Shakeel’s continued presence at the crease provided stability.
The match remains finely called off, with both teams having an equal chance to take control on the second day. Pakistan will try to strengthen their good start, while Bangladesh will focus on taking advantage of their early successes to keep Pakistan's score low. The second day is set to be an exciting battle between batting and bowling, with both teams keen to take control in this important Test match.
Stumps
As the light faded, the umpires called it stumps. Pakistan had an excellent couple of sessions, recovering from 16/3 to end Day 1 on a high, thanks to Shakeel and Ayub. Earlier, a full session was lost due to a wet outfield, but the ground staff did a great job getting the field ready. Despite losing a session, there was plenty of good cricket to watch. Bangladesh used the new ball effectively, taking three wickets in the first 10 overs.
Shakeel and Ayub managed to handle the swinging ball and stayed at the crease for as long as they could. Once the ball got older, they started scoring quickly. Ayub made a solid fifty before getting out. Shakeel had a few close calls but got lucky. Now, Rizwan and Shakeel are batting for Pakistan, and with their long batting lineup, they have a good chance to build on their Day 1 performance.
End of Day's Play
Day 1: Pakistan 158 for 4 (Shakeel 57*, Ayub 56, Shoriful : 2/30)
