IPL 2025: PBKS earned a dominant victory, led by their bowlers and top-order batters

Punjab Kings beat Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets. Prabhsimran Singh scored 69, and Shreyas Iyer added 52 to chase the target.

A strong effort from the bowlers was followed by aggressive batting from Prabhsimran Singh (69 runs off 34 balls), Shreyas Iyer (52 not out off 30 balls), and Nehal Wadhera (43 not out off 25 balls) as Punjab Kings comfortably beat Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets, marking their second win in a row. In their first home game, LSG ended with 171 runs for 7 wickets, which was not enough to challenge the powerful Punjab team, who finished the game with 3.4 overs remaining.
In the early stages of both innings, PBKS bowled well on a pitch that seemed slow, taking regular wickets to limit LSG's scoring. Even though Nicholas Pooran tried to help his team recover with some big hits, LSG only managed to score 76 runs in their first 10 overs, losing three wickets in the process. On the other hand, Prabhsimran attacked the LSG bowlers vigorously, reaching a half-century in just 23 balls—the fastest in IPL history in Lucknow. By the end of the 10th over, PBKS had scored 110 runs for 1 wicket, which was 34 runs more than LSG had at the same point.
PBKS secured a commanding win against LSG, thanks to strong performances from both their bowlers and batters. LSG got off to a rough start as Mitchell Marsh fell for a golden duck in the first over. While Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran tried to rebuild the innings, Punjab’s bowlers, especially Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, and Arshdeep Singh, kept things tight. Pooran played aggressive strokes to ensure steady progress, but his dismissal just short of a fifty slowed LSG down. Ayush Badoni and David Miller attempted to accelerate, and Abdul Samad’s late fireworks helped push LSG past 170. However, PBKS finished strong as Arshdeep and Jansen kept things controlled in the final overs.
Punjab’s chase got off to a blazing start with Prabhsimran Singh striking boundaries from the outset. He, along with Priyansh Arya and Iyer, ensured PBKS made rapid progress, crossing 60 by the end of the powerplay. Though Prabhsimran fell after an entertaining fifty, Nehal Wadhera, the impact substitute, joined Iyer to maintain the momentum. They played attacking strokes and punished the LSG bowlers, leaving Punjab with an easy target to chase. Iyer stayed unbeaten and finished the game in style, hitting a six to not only seal the victory but also bring up his second successive fifty. PBKS’s dominant win boosted their net run rate, propelling them to the second position on the points table.
