Rizwan and Shakeel’s Centuries Highlight Pakistan’s Successful Day

A 240-run fifth-wicket partnership between Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan dominant second day for Pakistan as they declared at 448 for 6.

Bangladesh completed 12 overs before reaching out to the stumps but they need to return better for new balls on Friday.
Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan scored 240 runs together for the fifth wicket, helping Pakistan reach 448 for 6 before declaring. Bangladesh then had to bat for a difficult hour before the end of the day. Now Bangladesh has also played well and their openers Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan survived for 12 overs, but they are required to come back strong to get over Pakistan’s four-pronged seam attack on 3rd day.
After tea when the game was resumed by Pakistan, they tried to score up where Rizwan announced his intentions to score high and make a big six over a long run clouting Shoriful Islam. After taking the shot, Rizwan experienced cramps but managed to collect 37 runs off 42 balls after the tea break. He remained unbeaten on 171 when Pakistan declared, despite hobbling due to the cramps.
The aggressive intent of Pakistan after tea costs them one wicket, when Shakib Al Hasan outwitted Agha Salman when he attempted to hit against the turn, resulting in a sliced catch at backward point. But this also resulted the quick runs as Shaheen Shah Afridi made two sixes and scored 29 runs out of 24 balls.
When Bangladesh's innings began, Rizwan started as the wicketkeeper but had to leave the field due to cramps after 7.3 overs. Sarfaraz Ahmed took over his duties behind the stumps. Overall, Rizwan was on the field for all but 4.3 overs of the day's play.
Shakeel and Rizwan continued their partnership, adding 44 runs on day one and batting for most of two sessions before Bangladesh managed to break their stand just over 15 minutes before tea.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz finally gave the visitors a breakthrough with a tricky off-spin delivery. Shakeel tried to defend it but missed, and his back foot slipped out of the crease. Litton Das quickly stumped him, catching the ball far outside the off-stump.
It was a really close call; Shakeel's toe was just on the crease when the bails lit up. The dismissal came down to mere millimetres.
Just an over earlier, there was another close call. Shakeel, who often stepped out of his crease to handle the fast bowlers, let a ball from Hasan Mahmud go by. Litton Das, anticipating this, quickly threw down the stumps. Shakeel managed to get his bat back into the crease just in time, but it was so close that the TV cameras couldn't capture clear proof before the bails lit up.
Litton gets to face some really intense moments that earlier Shakeel and Rizwan had to face at the time of 63.5 overs. He quickly moved to his left to try and dive for a catch when Rizwan hit the ball off Mehidy, but he couldn't complete the catch.
Well, these types of moments are mostly infrequent as well and there are rare possibilities of genuine chances, which also shows how great Shakeel and Rizwan were broughting up their third test hundreds.  Since the beginning of the Test match, it was evident that the conditions had improved significantly from when Bangladesh utilized the new ball and early moisture to bring Pakistan down to 16 for 3.
The conditions have been transformed- but the Bangladesh seamers were tired there is no doubt about that- This comes into notice when Bangladesh took the second new ball, which was after lunch ten overs. By then the batters were able to bring up their centuries-Rizwan made 91 runs out of 97 balls before stepping out and He hit Shakib for a huge six over wide long-on, then followed it up with a four-over midwicket to reach a century. When the fast bowlers returned, he continued with a series of beautiful shots.
In the 82nd over, Rizwan smoothly hit Hasan Mahmud through cover point. In the following over, Shakeel stood firm and drove Shoriful through cover.
When Shakeel hit that shot, the batters hugged, likely acknowledging that it was his first boundary of the day, and appreciating his calm and patient approach despite facing 123 balls without hitting a boundary.
Shakeel compensated for his earlier struggles in the following overs by confidently pulling Shoriful and Nahid Rana when they bowled short and skillfully hitting Rana off his hips when he bowled too straight.
Rana had also tried using short balls in the first session, which sometimes made both batters look uncomfortable. However, this strategy was costly, as his five overs in the morning conceded 32 runs.
Rizwan scored most of those runs, starting with two consecutive falling ramps over the slips off bouncers aimed at his body, moving from 46 to 54 runs. In Rana's next over, he displayed his versatility against short balls by hooking one for a six-over backward square leg.
At the time of the first session, Rizwan was proved to be a quick scorer and added 65 runs out of 100 balls. Shakeel left with less of the strike and, made great use of it and scored 32 out of 77 and did not add five boundaries from day one. By lunchtime, Rizwan had surpassed Shakeel in runs, even though he had started the day 33 runs behind him.
Although Rizwan and Shakeel had different styles, they both had a demoralizing effect on Bangladesh. Shakeel's defence was especially impressive; he was always well-balanced and consistently met the ball perfectly with the full face of his bat.
As the day passes the spinners of Bangladesh take on more workload share and both the players Shakib and Mehidy get into the difficult first day- and consists of combining 36 in their 36 overs- and they perform a great job. On the first day, Pakistan's effective use of the sweep shot caused a lot of trouble for Bangladesh. In response, Bangladesh started targeting the stumps more and bowled slightly faster, with fielders positioned deep on the leg side for protection. Both bowlers used drift skillfully, and Mehidy occasionally managed to get a sharp turn as well.

End of Day's Play
Day 1: Pakistan 158/4 (Shakeel 57*, Ayub 56, Shoriful : 2/30)
Day 2: Pakistan 448/6d (Mohammad Rizwan 171*, Shaheen Shah Afridi 29*, Hasan Mahmud : 2/70)
Day 2: Bangladesh 27/0 (Shadman Islam 12*, Zakir Hasan 11*, Naseem Shah: 0/7)
