Rookie Jangoo and Keacy Carty Lead West Indies to Series Sweep
Bangladesh failed to defend a big total as West Indies swept the ODI series 3-0
Debutant Amir Jango became a star player as West Indies as West Indies was required to chase the target of 321 runs against Bangladesh in the final ODI.
Chasing a big target, West Indies struggled early as their top-order collapsed to 86/4 by the 15th over. However, Jangoo and Keacy Carty turned things around with a stunning 132-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Carty fell just five runs short of his century, but Jangoo carried on with Gudakesh Motie, who scored an unbeaten 44. Together, they sealed the win with 25 balls to spare, marking West Indies' third-highest successful chase in ODIs and their third consecutive win over Bangladesh after 11 straight losses to them.
Earlier, Bangladesh had put on a strong batting display, led by senior player Mahmudullah, who scored his third half-century in the series. Skipper Mehidy Hasan top-scored with 77, and Soumya Sarkar joined him for a 136-run stand to steady the innings after Alzarri Joseph’s double strike in the third over. Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali then added an unbeaten 150-run partnership for the sixth wicket, helping Bangladesh set a challenging total. Despite their efforts, it wasn’t enough to avoid a whitewash.
