RPL Riders beat Bindal Strikers by 1 Run And secure place in the finals
MPL-T20 2025-Semifinal 1: RPL Riders beat Bindals Strikers by 1 run. Player of the Match: Abdul Mazid
The MPL semi-final clash between RPL Riders and Bindal Strikers delivered everything a cricket fan could hope for tension, drama, and a thrilling finish, where RPL Riders narrowly secured their place in the final with a 1-run victory. The match was filled with ups and downs, clutch performances, and a dramatic finish that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. But RPL Rider’s bowling becomes the star and they secure their win effortlessly.
RPL Riders Choose to Bat First
After winning the toss, RPL Riders opted to bat first, aiming to put up a challenging score in this high-stakes semi-final. However, the start wasn’t ideal. Opening batsman Vivek Kumar was trapped lbw for a duck in just the third ball of the match by Ayush Kumar. Soon after, Vivek Saroha tried to steady the innings, scoring a quick 12 off 12 balls, but was caught behind by the keeper off Aashu Tomar.
The pressure continued to build as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Garvit Chaudhary, however, played a vital anchor role. With great patience, he scored 36 runs off 46 balls, holding one end and trying to build partnerships. But the middle order failed to capitalize. Nishant Thakur, Ritik Rana, and Muneeb Ahmad were dismissed cheaply, and the team was reeling under pressure at 70/6.
Then came a game-changing moment — Abdul Mazid (Player of the match), walking in at number 10, played one of the most explosive innings of the tournament. Mazid was able to smash 35 runs off just 12 balls, which included 2 boundaries and 4 towering sixes. His great finish gave RPL Riders the momentum they desperately needed and lifted the team to a respectable total of 123/9 in 20 overs..
Bindal Strikers Fall Just Short
Chasing 124 to win, Bindal Strikers had a steady start. Their opener Priyanshu Motla played a composed knock, anchoring the innings with 48 runs off 58 deliveries, including 3 fours and a six. His efforts laid a solid foundation, and with Shiv Panwar providing an aggressive cameo of 11 off just 5 balls, the Strikers looked in control early in the innings.
However, RPL Riders struck back quickly. Vivek Kumar made a big impact with two crucial wickets, dismissing Manav Rathi and Ankit Chaudhary. As the pressure increased, wickets started to fall — Himesh Krishna made an effort to resist with a quick 16 runs off 12 balls, but he couldn't keep the game going.
Vishu Pal and Digvijay Singh bowled with great discipline in the middle overs, each taking important wickets, while the fielding unit, led by Aadi and Ritik Rana, executed two sharp run-outs that further dented the Strikers' chase.
With just a few runs needed in the final over and one wicket in hand, the match hung in the balance. But RPL’s bowlers held their nerve, delivering dot balls and keeping the pressure high. The final ball sealed it — Bindal Strikers finished at 122/10, just 1 run short of the target.
