Samson To Replace Kishan For The T20Is Bangladesh
Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson is very likely to retain his spot for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh.
Will Sanj Samson will replace Ishan Kishan for India’s T20I squad? In the Duleep Trophy Sanju and Kishan, both impressed everyone with their performance, and each of them scored a century but Samson was more active this time as he scored 196 runs while Kishan scored 123 runs. But the main question will be: Are these runs enough to forget the memory of Samson's two ducks in his last two T20Is with Sri Lanka in July? Samson has played well in the Duleep trophy which is why there are great chances that he might replace Kishan’s place.
Kishan recently made news by following the selectors' advice to play in domestic cricket, sparking rumours that he might be called back to the Indian team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. Before being left out almost a year ago for reasons not entirely related to his performance on the field, Kishan had almost secured his place in India's white-ball team. His consistent performance had even earned him a spot in the 50-over World Cup squad.
After putting on the attention in the domestic cricket he has the chance that he might be getting a call for the India team but now we think that he needs to wait a little bit more. For the Irani Cup squad Kishan has already been selected meanwhile Samson is not a part of the match of the October 1-5 that is going to be wrapped up in Lucknow just before the first T20I face-off with Bangladesh in Gwalior on October 6. Although selectors can recall a player from domestic matches for international duty at any time, it seems that, for now, Samson remains the favoured option. With 30 T20Is under his belt, Samson might be asked to open the innings, a role he previously took on during the series against Sri Lanka, though without much success.
Now there is a requirement for an opener in the India Cricket Team for the T20I, as the selectors are taking care of more duties in mind, and Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal have the rare chances to be picked. The two players who opened in the T20Is in Sri Lanka are likely to be excluded, along with other Test players like Mohammed Siraj, Axar Patel, and Rishabh Pant, who were also part of the T20I squad in Sri Lanka. This decision might create an opportunity for someone like Sai Sudarshan, who played in a T20I in Zimbabwe in July. The Tamil Nadu and Gujarat Titans batter is part of the Irani squad. Suryakumar Yadav will return as the captain of the squad, which will also include Hardik Pandya.
Following the first T20I match on October 6 in Gwalior, the teams will compete in the next two matches on October 9 in New Delhi and October 12 in Hyderabad.
