Seales takes 4 wickets for 5 runs, giving West Indies an advantage as Bangladesh falls to 164
Jayden Seales registered unbelievable figures of 15.5-10-5-4 as West Indies bowled out Bangladesh for 164 in the first innings against Bangladesh at Sabina Park in Jamaica.
Jayden Seales had impressive bowling figures of 15.5 overs, 10 maidens, 5 runs, and 4 wickets as the West Indies bowled out Bangladesh for 164 runs on the second day of the second Test at Sabina Park. Seales' performance was the most economical in Test cricket since 1977, with at least 60 balls bowled. In reply, the West Indies lost Mikyle Louis early, but Kraigg Brathwaite and Keacy Carty helped the team reach 70 for 1 before bad light ended play early for the second day in a row.
Shamar Joseph was the one who really troubled the Bangladesh batting. At one point, Bangladesh was doing okay at 83 for 2, but after that, they quickly fell to 98 for 6 in just 34 balls, with Shamar taking three of the four wickets that fell.
He started by breaking a solid partnership of 73 runs between Shadman Islam and Shahadat Hossain by bowling out Shahadat for 22. Shortly after, he had Jaker Ali caught behind with a short ball. Jaker was late on his pull shot and ended up top-edging the ball onto his shoulder, which went behind the stumps for an easy catch to Joshua Da Silva.
In his next over, Shamar got the outside edge of Shadman, giving Da Silva his fourth catch of the innings. Between these wickets, Seales had Litton Das caught at first slip for just 1 run.
After lunch, Shamar and Alzarri Joseph kept trying short balls against Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam. The two batsmen managed to stick around for 116 balls and scored 41 runs together. Eventually, Taijul hit a short ball from Alzarri to third slip.
Seales quickly took the last three wickets for just five runs. Taskin was the first to go when he tried to hit a short ball but ended up edging it. Da Silva jumped and deflected the ball to second slip, where Alick Athanaze caught it while diving backward.
In the same over, Seales made Mehidy top-edge a hook to fine leg, and then he bowled Nahid Rana to end the innings.
The Bangladesh bowlers started strong, allowing only 16 runs in the ten overs before tea. After the break, Rana bowled over 150kph and got Louis caught behind for 12 runs.
Taijul also did well on the pitch. Brathwaite and Carty had a hard time scoring off him. Seven of Taijul's ten overs were maidens, but he didn’t take any wickets.
