Shakib Banned from Bowling in All Elite Cricket, Both Domestic and International
Shakib suspended from bowling in all cricket formats due to an illegal bowling action.
From all the competition runs Shakib Al Hasan has been suspended from bowling including domestic and international and the statement has been dismissed by BCB on Sunday. By the England and Wales Cricket Board Shakib has been suspended from bowling and the ilegal action would be the next step to be taken. The board also mentioned that Shakib will soon go for a re-assessment at an approved testing center to have his action reviewed and to try to lift his suspension.
At Loughborough University (an ICC-approved testing center based in UK), Shakib made a failed attempt towards the independent assessment of his bowling, in the start of this month. He has been reported for some suspicious action at the time of country cricket match at England in September. Because of which ECB forced to take an action, According to clause 11.3 of the ICC's rules on illegal bowling actions, when a national federation suspends a player from bowling in its domestic competitions, the ICC and all national cricket federations must also enforce the suspension in international cricket and their own domestic competitions. This suspension takes effect immediately after receiving the official notice, without any need for further procedures.
The news has been confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that he has been suspended from all the formats of bowling. "If the results of this [reassessment] analysis clear his action, Shakib will be allowed to bowl in international cricket and domestic cricket competitions under the jurisdiction of all national cricket federations."
For now, Shakib can play as a batter in all formats of both domestic and international cricket.
This marks the end of an extraordinary year for the celebrated Bangladesh allrounder, whose international career is already uncertain due to his role as a Member of Parliament in the now-overturned Awami League government. This follows protests in which several hundred civilians, mostly university students, were killed in July and August. Shakib has effectively retired from Test and T20I cricket; his desire for a farewell Test in Dhaka was blocked by protesting students.
While Shakib remains active in ODIs, he was not selected for the Afghanistan and West Indies series over the past month. Currently, he is participating in the Lanka T10 competition, though he did not bowl in the last two matches for Galle Marvels, including the one played on Sunday evening.
