Shoriful Islam to Miss India Test Series

Shoriful Islam to Miss India Test Series

Bangladesh left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam hasn't been named in Bangladesh's squad for the upcoming two-match Test series in India.

Shoriful Islam the Bangladesh Left-arm pacer is knocked out from the Bangladesh squad for the two matches against India. He had a groin injury that forced him to miss the Pakistan match in Rawalpindi too. This is the only change that is going to happen in the 16-man squad. The recovery plan is going well, and the team is hopeful that Shoriful will be ready for the T20I matches against India.
National selector Hannan Sarkar says in a discussion that Shoriful is not totally fit at the moment as he was also unfit at the time of the second match which is why he is not selected this time. However, he is under follow-up at the movement and physios and trainers are gonna monitor him.
They will require him to ball at least 15-20 overs and he is not 100% fit for that. There are gonna be T20 matches after this in which Shorifull is gonna play an important role. That’s why they are not gonna take any risk this time as he has other fully fit players that can take the place of Shoriful and for the full recovery till T20 he needs to rest.
No one other than the team is gonna replace him instead wicket-keeper batter Jaker Ali gonna do bowling this time. Ali performed well with the Bangladesh A team during their recent tour of Pakistan. Given that the conditions in India don't require an extra fast bowler—Bangladesh already has four in the squad—bringing in Ali serves two purposes. It adds an extra batter to the team and allows players like Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim to focus solely on their batting without additional responsibilities.
We thought about the conditions and the opponents when deciding about Jaker Ali Anik. We took five fast bowlers to Pakistan, but this time, we had one less and added a middle-order batter. We felt it was important to strengthen the middle order based on the team combination, conditions, and opponents.
Bangladesh starts the series with the first Test in Chennai, followed by the next one in Kanpur.
Bangladesh Squad:  Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Najmul Hossain Shanto (c),  Zakir Hasan,  Mominul Haque, Shadman Islam, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Kumer Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz,  Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Hasan Mahmud,  Nahid Rana, Jaker Ali Anik, Syed Khaled Ahmed.
