Siraj and Malik Ruled Out Due to Illness and Jadeja Withdrew from Duleep Trophy first-round
Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been released from the Team B squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, set to begin on September 5.
From the first round of the Duleep Trophy Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik have been hindered because of their illness meanwhile Navdeep Saini will be replacing Sirah in the B squad India and for the India C squad Gaurav Yadav has decided to join.
Also, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out by the B squad India and there is no such reason that has been updated till now as well and there are no names of his replacements either.
Gaurav, a 32-year-old fast bowler from Madhya Pradesh, switched to Puducherry before the last domestic season. He gained attention by taking 41 wickets in the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy, making him the second-highest wicket-taker. He achieved this in just 11 innings, with an impressive average of 14.58. He also had five instances of taking five wickets in a match and once took ten wickets in a match, particularly impressing in the opening round against Delhi.
Before this, Gaurav was already known for his consistent performance with the red ball, taking 24 wickets in the 2022-23 season, 23 in 2021-22, and 23 in 2019-20. Since his first-class debut in November 2012, he has played 37 matches and taken a total of 141 wickets.
The Saini who is injured has already played for the two tests on India’s tour of Australia in 2020-21 and has the chance to return for the next test session. He was even part of two India A four-day games last season one was against England Lion and the other was against South Africa in December but He was unable to take more than one wicket in any of the four innings he bowled in.
The BCCI has stated that Nitish Kumar Reddy's involvement will be dependent on his fitness as he recuperates following a sports hernia surgery.
In Anantapur and Bengaluru the first round of the Duleep Trophy is decided to be played from September 5.
The Duleep Trophy, which used to involve teams from different zones, has been changing its format. This time, it will be a contest between four teams. In the second round, there's a scheduling conflict with the Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19. As a result, players selected for the Tests will be substituted in the tournament.
