Suryakumar to play the rest of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches and the Vijay Hazare Trophy
India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav will be back for Mumbai's next Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) Match.
India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, will return to play for Mumbai in their next Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) match against Andhra on December 3. He took a two-week break to attend a family function but is expected to complete the tournament and also participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy starting on December 21.
It seems that Suryakumar will not captain Mumbai in the SMAT, as Shreyas Iyer has been the captain so far and is likely to keep that role. Suryakumar is okay with Iyer continuing as captain and is willing to bat wherever the team management thinks is best for the team.
Recently, Suryakumar led India to a strong 3-1 series win over South Africa. He will join the Mumbai team in Hyderabad on Monday and is expected to play in the next game. Currently, Mumbai is in fourth place in Group E, having won two out of three games so far, with two more league games to play after Sunday’s match against Nagaland.
The ongoing SMAT has attracted many well-known players after the T20I series with South Africa, including Hardik Pandya, Iyer, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Varun Chakravarthy, and others. Before heading to South Africa, Suryakumar had also played one round in the Ranji Trophy in October.
