T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh thrashed Nepal to be eligible for the Super 8 finals

T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh thrashed Nepal to be eligible for the Super 8 finals

Shakib then made his spot in the tournament by attaining wickets in the death overs, securing the victory.

Bangladesh competed against Nepal and won to seal the final Super 8 spot in the T20 World Cup 2024. They gained barely 106 runs, giving the Netherlands a chance. Yet, Bangladesh's bowlers did fantastic and assisted the team win.

How the game go in Favor of Bangladesh?

Taking 4 wickets and bowling 21 balls without giving any runs, which is a record Tanzim Hasan Shakib did great. But the match was won by Mustafizur, who bowled two great overs at the finish when the game was very near. He gave only 1 run in the 17th over and then took a wicket without giving any runs in the 19th over, concluding Nepal's chances of winning.

Bangladesh:

Initial Overs – 31/4 (RR – 5.16, 4s/6s – 4/0)

Bangladesh had a really bad start in an important game. Tanzid Hasan got out after only two balls, and captain Najmul Shanto was bowled in the second over. Then, after two calm overs, Litton Das also got out by hitting the ball wrong. Finally, Towhid Hridoy was out in the last over of the powerplay, making things even worse for Bangladesh.

Middle Overs - 44/3 (RR - 4.88, 4s/6s - 3/0)

Bangladesh had another tough time in the game. Mahmudullah hit a four, and Shakib also got a boundary, but then a mix-up between them led to Mahmudullah getting out. Nepal stayed in control. It was hard for Bangladesh to score runs, and they also lost Shakib's wicket.

Final Overs - 31/3 (RR - 6.88, 4s/6s - 3/1)

Bangladesh struggled at the end. Rishad Hossain hit a few important boundaries, but overall, the team didn't perform well. Putting their chance to qualify in doubt, they were all out for just 106 runs.

Nepal:

Initial Overs: 24/4 (RR - 4.00, 4s/6s - 5/0)

They began awfully. Even though they didn't lose a wicket in the starting two overs, Nepal was set back in the third over when Tanzim hit back with two boundaries in just three deliveries. Aasif Sheikh sought to free them from the chains with two boundaries in the next over, but the wickets continued to tumble. Mustafizur managed to get Aasif out as Nepal ended with 24/4 in the powerplay.

Middle Overs:  41/1 (RR - 4.55, 4s/6s - 2/0)

With Tanzim bowling well, Najmul decided to let him keep going to get more wickets. It worked, and Tanzim took another wicket, ending with amazing stats of 4/7. But after being 26/5, Nepal fought back. Since they only needed 107 runs, they didn't worry about scoring quickly. Dipendra Singh and Kushal Malla kept taking turns batting and made it easier, needing just 42 runs in the last five overs.

Final Overs - 20/5 (RR - 4.61, 4s/6s - 1/2)

For a short instant, there was a glint of expectation for Nepal. Kushal Malla attained a six and a four in opposition to Mahmudullah. Furthermore, Dipendra scored a marvelous six opposing Taskin Ahmed, lowering the deficiency to 23 runs off 17. Though, on the other hand, Mustafizur's two exceptional overs on either side of Dipendra's six were too much for Nepal. Mustafizur first took out Kushal in the 17th over and then beat a devastating last over, totally turning the match in Bangladesh's favor. Dipendra, familiar with his powerful sixes, was not able to score against the ball for five uninterrupted deliveries in the 19th over before missing the last ball to the wicketkeeper while trying for a single. Shakib then made his spot in the tournament by attaining wickets in the death overs, securing the victory.

Summary Of Scores:

Bangladesh scored 106 runs in 19.3 overs (Sompal Kami 2/10, Sandeep Lamichhane 2/17) and defeated Nepal for 85 in 19.2 overs (Kushal Malla 27; Tanzim Hasan Shakib 4/7) by 21 runs.
