How did they conquer the game?
During the initial and middle stages of the game, Nepal performed well. Regardlessly, they faced some difficulties towards the end of the game, especially during the last few overs. South Africa also had trouble scoring during this time, but they managed to attain thirty-five runs which turned out to be just what they needed to win in the end.
South Africa:
Initial Overs - 38/1 [RR: 6.34, 4s/6s: 6/0]
In the second match of the World Cup in Kingstown, Nepal chose to bowl first. South Africa’s Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks had difficulty hitting the ball well during the first part of their batting turn. De Kock got out after scoring ten runs from eleven balls, disappointing again. Hendricks managed to hit a few boundaries, but overall, South Africa found it hard to score. Nepal started using spin bowling through Kushal Malla towards the end of the Powerplay.
Middle Overs - 42/2 [RR: 4.67, 4s/6s: 3/1]
Sandeep Lamichhane came back and made Nepal's bowling much better. He started with an over where he only gave two runs and made it hard for the batters. Aiden Markram struggled at first, but Hendricks hit a big six against Malla in his second over. Then, Malla was replaced by leg-spinner Kushal Bhurtel, who also bowled well and kept South Africa from scoring much. South Africa was at 57/1 halfway through, but Bhurtel dropped an easy catch. He quickly made up for it by getting Markram out for just fifteen runs. Lamichhane almost got Heinrich Klaasen out with a tricky shot, but the fielder could not catch it. Bhurtel then got Klaasen out in the next over with a catch by Karan at extra cover.
Death Overs - 35/4 [RR: 7.00, 4s/6s: 2/1]
Between the 11th and 16th overs, Nepal kept South Africa from hitting any boundaries for 33 balls. Even when South Africa finally broke the streak, they still struggled to score. In the 16th over, Dipender Singh took a return catch to dismiss Hendricks, who had scored 43 off 49 balls. Sandeep Lamichhane bowled tightly, ending with figures of 0 for 18, including 11 dot balls. In the 18th over, David Miller was out-caught by Lamichhane off Dipender's bowling. Dipender finished with 3 for 21 in 4 overs, including 9 dots. Tristan Stubbs hit a six at the start of the 20th over, but Bhurtel gave away only three more runs and took two wickets, finishing with 4 for 19, including 12 dot balls.
Nepal:
Initial Overs - 32/0 [RR: 5.34, 4s/6s: 5/1]
Nepal played carefully but also took some risks to hit five boundaries in the first six overs. This helped them get ready to chase the target. They didn't lose any wickets and kept South Africa under pressure. Kagiso Rabada had a good chance to get Aasif Sheikh out but dropped the catch.
Middle Overs - 59/3 [RR: 6.56, 4s/6s: 4/2]
Tabraiz Shamsi made things tough for Nepal by taking two wickets in one over. First, he bowled out Bhurtel, and then he got Nepal's captain, Rohit Paudel. Nepal was struggling, but Anil Sah and Aasif Sheikh started to play better. After a short break, Sah hit two fours off Anrich Nortje, then hit a big six off Shamsi. Sheikh hit a four and a six off Rabada. Nepal's score went from 48/2 in 10 overs to 82/2 in 13 overs, putting them back on track. Aiden Markram got Sah out, but Nepal only needed twenty-five more runs to win.
Death Overs - 23/4 [RR: 4.60, 4s/6s: 1/1]
Shamsi took two more wickets in one over, making it hard for Nepal to catch up. They couldn't recover this time and missed the chance to win. When Sheikh got out, things got worse for Nepal as the lower-order batters had trouble scoring runs. Sompal Kami hit a huge six off Nortje to keep the chase alive until the final over, and Gulshan Jha hit a four to keep it close. But Baartman stayed calm and helped South Africa win the game and finish the group stage without losing.
