Ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, ICC has issued a fresh rating list. Two-time champions West Indies has moved to the fourth position in the newly generated rating list. The team got the advantage before the start of the new edition of the T20 World Cup, which is co-hosted from 1st -29th June.
The champions of the 2012 and 2016 tournament editions are ahead of New Zealand and South Africa as the latter was overpowered 3-0 recently and was displaced to the seventh position in the list dominated by India.
The most recent rankings in T20Is are as follows: India, which won the first edition in 2007, has 264 rating points; Australia, the champion in 2021, is second with 257 points; England, which was the champion in the most recent T20 World Cup held in 2021, is third with 254; and the West Indies are fourth, 2 points behind England at 252. The latest position indicates that New Zealand has accumulated 250 points, the same as Pakistan and South Africa but with slightly more decimal points for Pakistan.
The West Indies players also have benefited from their splendid showings in the home series, which was not long before the start of the tournament where they played against Papua New Guinea in Guyana on 2nd June.
