The emerging talents in cricket USA won their first-ever T20I series after beating Bangladesh twice in two matches and the Tigers by six runs.
In the subsequent match of the three-match series at the Prairie View Cricket Complex, the hosts attained a victory that fans will not forget for years. With every wicket forsaken, the USA players erupted into a cheerful and lively gathering, converting the match into a yorker fest with bails flying all over the place.
They surfaced from the three-match series with an undeniable 2-0 lead thanks to their exceptional achievement.
Facing off against the USA on untried playing fields undid the natively bred Bangladeshi hitters, the sluggish turners of the subcontinent. The Bangladeshi batsmen had another cheerless day as they missed out on seizing possibilities following a stellar performance bowling, now excelling with the bat.
Bangladesh's batters struggled to establish a pattern and stream while seeking a feasible target of 144 on a surface that became visible to be heart-warming. Eventually, they were expelled for attempting to push the pace against a regulated bowling attack.
None of the other batters in the Bangladesh dugout, apart from captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, and the highly effective Towhid Hridoy, could step up to the challenge.
In the first over of the chase, left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar smacked first, forwarding southpaw Soumya Sarkar back for a golden duck. Three overs in due course, Jessy Singh excluded Tanzid Hasan for a record of 19(15), sending Sarkar packing. A strong 48-run collaboration between Shanto and Hridoy helped stabilize Bangladesh’s innings to avoid a breakdown.
Bangladesh showed up prepared to chase effortlessly the goal halfway through the innings. On the other hand, Corey Anderson, a previous international player for New Zealand, brilliant moment of insight that altered the game's progression and gave the Americans the privilege.
After a tangle between the two batters in the 11th over, Corey Anderson regained the ball and hurried toward the stumps. Shanto, who wrapped up with an exclusive score of 36 (34), staggered back to the dugout, caught in a moment of uncertainty.
Hridoy's (25) stumps were shaken by Anderson in swinger an over later, proficiently ending the Bangladeshi chase. Few people in the Houston crowd packed tightly in the stands, the wicket’s fall fulfilled the prediction of a collapse.
The lead in the fight was led by Shakib at one end, but wickets kept falling at the other consistently. To win the series, Bangladesh needed to score 21 runs in the last three overs.
Shakib had the accountability of concluding the game strong for his team. When he tried to drive on a pitched-up delivery, all he discovered was an inside edge. A small error in assessment caused the balls to travel straight to the stumps.
It was obvious that Bangladesh's time expired after the dismissal. Nonetheless, they were still able to keep the fight close. With 12 runs needed off the last six deliveries, Rishad Hossain hit the fence on the second ball, inspiring hope for an improbable win. Yet, Ali Khan remained calm and got Hossain out intent on securing the deal with a score of 138 for Bangladesh. At the beginning of the match, Bangladesh won the coin toss and chose to bat. Captain Monank Patel pioneered the effort from the field and scored 42. Steven Taylor and Aaron Jones also made significant contributions with their scores of 31 and 35, helping USA reach 144/7.
