USA attained a big victory by winning against Pakistan in a super-over
It was a collective effort by the team along with many players taking charge for the USA. In the Super Over, Aaron Jones and Harmeet Singh battled for the USA team.
After winning against Bangladesh before the 2024 T20 World Cup, the United States of America showed they were not just lucky by surprising Pakistan at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas on Thursday (6th June 2024).
It was a collective effort by the team along with many players taking charge for the USA. Kenjige and Netravalkar bowled proficiently, capping Pakistan to 159/7 right after the USA chose to bowl first. Monank Patel, Aaron Jones, and Andries Gous made major involvements, and Nitish Kumar engaged in a key role with his 14 runs, consisting of four on the last ball that took possession of the game into the Super Over.
In the Super Over, Aaron Jones and Harmeet Singh battled for the USA team. Aaron hit a four off the first ball from Mohammad Amir. Although Amir didn't allow more boundaries, he bowled many wides, giving the USA team extra runs. The USA team concluded with 18 runs. When Pakistan batted, Netravalkar bowled for the USA team. He began with a dot ball and then Iftikhar Ahmed hit a four. But a remarkable catch by Milind Kumar pressurized Pakistan. They required 14 runs from 3 balls. Regardless of some wides and a lucky boundary, Pakistan couldn't make sufficient runs, and the USA won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Match.
PAKISTAN:
Initial Overs: 30/3 [RR: 5.00, 4s/6s: 0/2]
In the beginning, the USA used a type of bowling called left-arm spin by Kenjige. A player from Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan, hit a big shot called a six off Kenjige's bowling. But Rizwan didn't stay long because another USA player, Netravalkar, caught the ball Rizwan hit, which was a great catch by Steven Taylor. Kenjige also did well by getting another Pakistan player, Usman Khan, out. Usman tried to hit the ball, but it was caught by a USA player near the boundary. Soon after that, Pakistan’s player Fakhar Zaman hit a six, however, another Pakistan player, Babar Azam, was striving to score runs. Pakistan faced more problems when Fakhar got out trying a different sort of shot and alternatively, USA bowler, Ali Khan, was bowling. Netravalkar bowled genuinely well, and he barely gave away a few runs in his three overs. This assisted the USA to control Pakistan's score, mainly the Pakistan team's captain, who only got 4 runs from 14 balls.
Middle Overs - 83/2 [RR: 9.22, 4s/6s: 5/4]
The USA kept playing well even after the first nine overs, and Pakistan only scored 46 runs by then. But in the 10th over, Pakistan got a boost when Shadab hit two big shots called sixes and Babar hit a four. This helped Pakistan score 20 runs in that over. Then, Babar hit another four off Kenjige's bowling and a six off Harmeet Singh's bowling. Even Shadab hit a four and a six in the same over by Harmeet Singh.
After that, Shadab and Babar made a partnership where they scored 72 runs quickly. Shadab got out when he tried to hit the ball, but it was caught by a USA player near the boundary. Then, Azam Khan got out when he couldn't defend the ball from Kenjige. Kenjige did well, even though he gave some runs in his first two overs. Babar hit another four, but Pakistan still needed to score more runs in the last few overs to get a good total.
Death overs - 46/2 [RR: 9.20, 4s/6s: 3/3]
Babar hit a big stroke called a six, and then the alternative player, Iftikhar, hit a four, which helped Pakistan to acquire some good runs. Soon after that, Babar got knocked out when the ball hit his leg, and the umpire declared that he was out. Then, Corey Anderson and Ali Khan bowled really well, and they didn't let Pakistan score numerous runs in the 17th and 18th overs respectively. Netravalkar, another USA player, returned to play and got Iftikhar out in the 19th over. Right after that, Pakistan’s player Shaheen Afridi hit an enormous shot called a six-off. Netravalkar's bowling also striked another six off Ali Khan's bowling in the final over. This lent a hand to Pakistan to achieve a total score of 160 runs, which the USA had to drive off to win.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:
Initial Overs: 44/1 [RR: 7.33, 4s/6s: 7/0]
USA had a strong start with Monank Patel hitting lots of boundaries. Mohammad Amir's bowling off-target resulted in Pakistan’s bad time. In the first two overs of Afridi Monank hit three fours, and Pakistan lost a review. Pakistan's bowlers tried to swing the ball, but USA's captain played well. The USA kept on scoring runs even after losing the wicket of Steven Taylor by Naseem Shah. Gous also got lucky when he almost got out, but the ball went to the boundary instead. USA concluded the first six overs with seven fours, which was acceptable for them.
Middle Overs - 71/2 [RR: 7.88, 4s/6s: 7/2]
Andries Gous made some good shots past the fielders for fours, showing his expertise in good timing and finding the gaps effectively. Monank and Gous also ran well between the wickets, getting singles and twos. The USA was doing well, reaching 76 runs for one wicket halfway through their innings. Gous hit a six in the second over of Shadab Khan. Gous and Monank made a partnership of 50 runs in the 12th over, with Gous scoring 35 of those runs. Monank then hit some more boundaries off Iftikhar's bowling. Monank continued to play well against Afridi, hitting a four and a six, and reaching fifty runs off 34 balls. Unfortunately, Gous got out in the 14th over after scoring 35 runs. Aaron Jones got lucky with a boundary off his bat's edge. But Monank got out in the next over, trying to hit a ball from Amir.
Death overs - 44/0 [RR: 7.33, 4s/6s: 2/2]
With 45 runs needed from 30 balls, Jones hit a big shot for six runs. But after that, Naseem bowled well and only gave away six runs, making it tough for USA. They needed 28 runs from 18 balls. Jones hit another boundary, but they only got seven runs from the over. Now, the USA needed 21 runs from the last two overs. Pakistan lost a review for a leg-before appeal in the next over. Amir, a Pakistan bowler, bowled well, making it hard for the USA to hit boundaries. They needed 15 runs from the last over. Rauf, another Pakistan bowler, didn't let the USA score many runs at first, but Jones hit a boundary on the fourth ball. Then, Nitish hit another boundary on the last ball, but they still needed one more boundary to tie the game and go to the super over.
Pakistan scored 159 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Babar Azam scored 44 runs and Shadab Khan scored 40 runs. Nosthush Kenjige got hold of 3 wickets for 30 runs, along with Saurabh Netravalkar took 2 wickets for 18 runs.
