Vijay Hazare Trophy: Karnataka beat Haryana by 5 wickets in 1st semifinal

Vijay Hazare Trophy: Padikkal and Shetty Shine as Karnataka Reach Final

Karnataka secured their fifth Vijay Hazare Trophy final appearance with a convincing five-wicket victory.

Karnataka got their fifth win at the Vijay Hazare trophy with a convincing five wickets and defeated the Haryana Champions in Vadodara. All thanks to Abhilash Shetty’s excellent four-wicket haul made Haryana score only 239/9 as before that Devdutt Padikkal scored 86 and Smaran Ravichandran scored 76 easily without much hassle.
At Kotambi Stadium, Haryana put in bat where they started great and reached 102/1 because of the solid contribution of Himanshu Rana (43) and Ankit Kumar (41). But their progress slowed down when Shreyas Gopal ended a 70-run partnership, leading to a collapse where Haryana lost four wickets for only 27 runs.
Shetty played a key role with the ball, taking the first wicket and dismissing Nishant Sindhu and Parth Vats in the same over. Despite some small partnerships, Haryana managed to score only 198, boosted by an unbeaten 39-run partnership between Anuj Thakral (23* off 15) and Amit Rana (15* off 16) at the end. During the post-match presentation, Kumar acknowledged that the team fell "20 to 30 runs short." Shetty delivered impressive bowling figures of 4 for 34, with solid support from Prasidh Krishna (2 for 40) and Gopal (2 for 36).
Karnataka didn’t start off well as captain and the in-form batter Mayank Agarwal got into the LBW for a duck in the first over by Anshul Kamboj. Aneesh KV and Padikkal stabilized the innings with a careful 62-run partnership for the second wicket.
When the Ravichandran joined the Padikkal at the crease turning point arrived. The duo played well and added quick runs putting back the pressure on Haryana. Ravichandran made three fours and three sixes. Meanwhile with the traditional approach and hits eight fours and a six. Both batters missed out on centuries as Sindhu dismissed them, but by then the chase was firmly in control.
Karnataka's lower order added important runs, with Shreyas Gopal's unbeaten 23 guiding them to an easy finish. The dew under the lights made batting simpler, and Haryana's total fell short on a pitch that got better as the game progressed.
