VVS Laxman To Be India’s Head Coach In South Africa
VVS Laxman will be the head coach for India's short white-ball tour of South Africa.
For India’s short white-ball tour of South Africa VVS Laxman has been appointed as the head coach. He is going to coach as the necessary national coach, meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir is assigned the Australia-bound for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The news has been out by the top official of the Board of Control for Cricket In India on Monday. The series schedule has been scheduled properly right away. The arrangement has been made by the BCCI and Cricket South Africa.
In Durban, Centurion and Johannesburg it has been decided that India is going to play Four Twenty-20 internationals on, the 8, 10, 13 and 15th of November. On the 3rd of November, the team will depart for the tour. Meanwhile, the Indian team will leave on 10-11 of November for BGT.
The coaches and staff at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, including Sairaj Bahutule, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, and Subhadeep Ghosh, will work under Laxman. Bahutule is the head coach, Kanitkar is the batting coach, and Ghosh is the fielding coach. They were all part of the India Emerging team that played in the Asia Emerging Cup in Oman. Sitanshu Kotak from Saurashtra and Mazhar Moidu from Kerala, who are also with the NCA, have joined the India A team, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, in Australia.
The 15 members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are going to be led by Suryakumar Yadav for the four T20Is on October 25 Friday.
There has been some criticism about scheduling the tour of South Africa during India's domestic season. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar mentioned in Sportstar, "Next month, there’s an unnecessary four-match T20 series in South Africa before the tour to Australia. Plus, the 'A' team will also be touring Australia, meaning around 50 to 60 players won’t be available for their State teams in the important Ranji Trophy."
However, one positive about the tour is that it comes just before the IPL auction, which means the four matches could show which players will be highly sought after by the franchises.
T20I squad: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Sanju Samson (WK), Jitesh Sharma (WK), Abhishek Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Axar Patel, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Ramandeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Yash Dayal.
