With the win, India Women completes a 5-0 whitewash over Bangladesh Women
India women's team clear sweep the series by 5-0 against the Bangladesh Women's team.
A phenomenal finish of the T20I series between India and Bangladesh would only be possible by Radha Yadav's extraordinary bowling feat in addition to the explosive batting of Richa Ghosh. With this 21-run victory in the fifth game, India emerged as a wiser and winning team among the other 5-0 series sweep.
Chasing a tough total of 157, Bangladeshi batters started finely but couldn’t survive in front of the raw pace and guile of left-arm spinner Radha Yadav. Even though Ritu Moni and Shorifa Khatun showed bravery with a composed sixth wicket alliance of 57 runs, Bangladesh was still six runs short of their target at the end of the match, which ended in 136 for six after 20 overs.
Radha Yadav's accurate spell of 3/24 shook the top-order of the Bangladeshi line-up, subsequently a total collapse echoed and Bangladesh's chase was completely dented. The partnership between the fierce Moni and Khatun almost led to the breakthrough but the Indian bowlers were persistent enough to have leg-spin bowler Asha Sobhana send Moni back to the pavilion in the 17th over to put India in bate again.
India's innings began to gather momentum during Ghosh's chasing 28 runs off only 17 balls. While the fall of early wickets was an early setback, batting let the team crank up the scorecard to 156 for five.
Despite losing quick wickets of a few players including captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Hemalatha Dayalan, India still managed to post their biggest score of the series with important contributions from Smriti Mandhana and others.
Mandhana was the star for India in her glowing innings of 33 runs while Yadav won the series' highest wicket-taker award getting 10 dismissals in 5 matches. Mandhana, though, came out as the highest run-scorer in the series collecting 116 runs in 5 matches.
